The Bloggers With The Most To Say

You love it, and it's the best thing ever, the best time of your life, you saw the midnight showing, you are in line for the Bella merchandise jacket, you have a jumbo crush on Taylor or Rob or whoever, you re-read the books before the movies come out.

OR

You hate it all. This could be based on stance against the content of the books, or that you're just tired of hearing about it and wish it would go away.

I read the books, saw the first movie. I really Do Not think it's worth all the excitement. first book was better than the first movie. So I don't really anticipate the second being any better than the second book. The books were ok, but again, not worth the excitement. it's just.. eh. I'll watch the movies on DVD probably. I really wish people would get over it already. I had someone come into the place I work and spend $180 on new moon merchandise on Friday. I just don't get it.
I didnt read the book, but I saw the first movie,,i'm planning to watch the 2nd movie, but not in a rush. So far, I dont like the first movie, it just a romantics movie typical,,nothing special, except the 'model-look' all vampires / warewolf main casts.

And yes of course, I need it ASAP. Agree with Kandace, I tired of hearing about it over n over again around me. If I may rate this movie, I would give 5 stars from 10. So, please, stop chit-chat about this movie again
I read the books, and while I think the writing is terrible, the story is kinda fun and frivolous. I abhorred the first film--Rpattz was not the Edward I envisioned in the books. I'm still not sure if I'm going to see New Moon or not... I'm in no rush.
I'm kinda disappointed in humanity that things like this can even be considered as worthwhile to a) publish, b) make into a movie and c) be considered the best of anything.
I like Twilight. It helps that I first read them when I was living in provincial China, where Enlish language books were valuable commodoties to be hoarded and traded. I tried to read them slowly, but I couldn't! Ok, they're not works of staggering literary sophistication, but nor are they pretending to be. They're compulsive, well plotted and the characters are interesting. I particularly like the Bella isn't stereotypically rebellious teenager - she's a caretaker of her parents (this happens a lot, but rarely seems to represented, unless as an extreme). I liked that I could give copies to my Chinese students and not have to worry about embarrasing sex scenes.

Haven't seen the films though - bought a copy of Twilight in Saigon, but it was so bad I couldn't watch it. Will probably watch them on DVD at some point, much as I can enjoy working with teenagers, they are not my preferred demographic to share a cinema auditorium with!
Horribly written book, at least the first one, and from what I have read the others follow. I am assuming the movies are better though I am not really into teenage love stories so I've never bothered with the movies, even if they are about vampires. I love vampires. lol
I read the series to please my younger sister and although it is a quick read, it really rubbed me the wrong way. Horrible writing. And the movies are simply 'quick cranked hollywood films for the masses'. The editing, story to film translation, and actual filming were like two hours of torture for me when I watched the first one. I don't mind if other people like it, but what does bother me is that both publishing houses and the film industry will be shaped around the consumption of this series. BLAH!
-end rant- lol
I despise that series. I wanted to understand the hype, so I read the books. In essence, millions of girls are reading books that are considered "romantic" when in fact they're glorifying a textbook abusive relationship. He causes her emotional trauma, stalks her, cuts her off from all of her friends, etc, and yet preteen girls are convinced Edward and Bella are part of an amazing love story. Ten years from now, there will be a whole generation of young women who are latched onto jerks who are emotionally abusive them, and they'll be tossing out excuses like, 'Edward and Bella had some rough patches too. We'll work through it together!"

When I first read the books, I had never seen a picture of Stephenie Meyer. I thought it was a Chris Paolini type situation (He wrote Eragon when he was 15). The writing reminded me of the writing skills of some of my 9th grade students. I seriously thought Twilight had been written by a 14 year old girl until I finally saw a picture of a middle-aged housewife!! The books are ridiculously repetitive (if they'd cut out every other line of, "OMG Edward is so beautiful!") all four would have fit into one. It saddens me to think that there are young people out there who think it's alright to write like that... The woman writes horribly and yet she's a best-seller. It truly sends the wrong message.

If you'd like, you can read my full reviews of each book here (they aren't very long):

I LOVE THE BOOKS! The Twilight movie didn't do the book justice... but New Moon was WONDERFUL! Check out the pics from my New Moon Party on my blog: http://www.christyandpatrick.blogspot.com
It's not the best or the worst, but it's a lot of fun. I read the books and I've seen the movies (didn't got to midnight releases, though). I understand people not liking the series, but I can't imagine why anyone would spend the energy to hate it.
Hmm I'm definitely more in the middle here. yes, I like it, yes I went to the midnight showing of New Moon, yes I'm obsessed with it right now but I haven't totally consumed the Kool Aid. I still recognize some of it as hokey and dramatic and definitely "teen" but it's cheesy and fun to read and even somewhat relate to. Plus, the man candy, you can never go wrong there.
Pretty much exactly how I feel. Sure, I <3 me some Jacob Black, but I'm certainly not about to buy tee-shirts and posters. I loved the books, the first movie sucked, the second movie was great, and that's that...

Is the hype a bit much? Yes. But when you're pushing something toward a the genre of teenage girls, it's sort of to be expected.
