Virtual Book club

I have been thinking about starting a Virtual (forum style) Book club.

We would read a book either every week or every other week and discuss it through email or forums. Each member of the book club will get their chance to pick a book and be in charge of the discussions. And for those that are nervous about doing this, they can elect to pick a book and another member or myself to lead the discussions.

I want this to be fun for everyone and a place to share our love for books.

I would love suggestions or your experiences from being in a Book Club.

I'd love that! I just finished up my school semester and will need some books to keep me going over the summer.

I've never been in a book club, but I'd suggest older books as well as new, popular ones since I get most of my books from the Air Force base library which doesn't always have the newest books.

I would like to do new and old. I am hoping to have a wide variety and have other members be able to swap with others or loan out their books. Because I know I wouldn't be able to afford to buy ALL of the books.

I think this would be awesome. I'm always looking for new books to read on my commute to and from work!

I think you'd also probably be better off as a once a month thing or biweekly at a minimum. I know I don't get THAT much time to read even though I'm a fast reader. Also, it would limit the number of books people would have to purchase throughout the year...

more often though and I'd find it hard to say for sure that I'd get the books read - work and life tend to dramatically eat into the time that I'd like to spend reading!

I completely understand. I figured since school is starting to wind down (at least in the south it is) that it would be a good time to start this up. I'm not worried about if people get the books completely read, but that they find new books that they may not have known before.

Honestly there may be books that I may never read all the way through. I have a few of those on my shelves that people have given me because they said 'It is amazing, you will love it'. Got two chapters in and hated it.
