I was talking about this on Friday with a professor, and he was saying how we (twenty-somethings) are so lucky to be living in an age of such advanced technology, because the scientific advancements that are likely to be made in our lifetime will occur so much more rapidly than in the past...
I think this is so cool and true, but upon bringing up the water on the moon thing at happy hour, my friend reminded me that most of us care a lot more about Kanye and Taylor Swift than about water being found on the moon!
So, I am just wondering if anyone cares about the water on the moon thing, or what you feel the implications of it are/will be? Or do you think it's a little too irrelevant to most people in our generation?
I care. Yes, I am a media whore, but I also read the science articles too. I can't wait until they do find water on the moon. I think it is only a matter of time.
All the signs point to the fact that if there isn't water on the moon now, there was at one time. Which, either way, could be very interesting. If there was water, that could lead to discoveries of extinct life forms. If there is water, that could lead to colonization. Both are exciting.
The science is very interesting, but I am going to reserve my excitement for news that actually has an impact (not that LCROSS wasn't an *impact* - har har). Water on the moon is a discovery, but we were looking for it. Now, come out with possible implications and I'll be listening.
I don't care about Kanye and Taylor Swift... I'm more of a Rihanna and Aerosmith type of guy... just kidding. I find science and technological advances to be very interesting. Thats why I'm working on my engineering degree. As far as following celebrity lives - I have much more important things to do and my own life to live, so I don't trouble myself with following Hollywood news. I don't even understand why throwing a header that a celebrity got a new girlfriend makes magazines sell...
