I don't know if I made it apparent in any of my posts or discussions on this here site, but I. LOVE. TO. EAT. Food makes me un-naturally happy and finding a good place (that's not a chain) around town that serves good food makes me even happier.
So, you amazing fellow bloggers out there, what are your favorite (non-chain*) local restaurants?
* by chains I mean national ones like Applebee's, T.G.I Friday's, Olive Garden, etc. Chains that are only found in certain parts of the country (such as the southeast, midwest, etc) are fine though.
Aladdin's Eatery-- I've been to ones in Pittsburgh and Northern Virginia. They combine healthy middle eastern food with amazing, not at all healthy desserts.
Lebanese Taverna-- Another Northern Virginia chain with great atmosphere and food.
Pierces PITT BBQ-- AMAZING, cheap, and fast. My three favorite things.
Rainforest Cafe-- You get to eat in a JUNGLE! Great for kids.
Cheesecake Factory-- This is a little more on the chain side, but it's one of my favorites.
DP Dough-- Most amazing late night food ever. More calzone flavors than you can even imagine.
I'm in LA so this probably won't help you much, but if you're ever out here I suggest you check out Lala's on Melrose. It's probably one of the only good things Melrose has to offer anymore. It's an Argentinean Grill restaurant and it's amazing. Their sangria is pretty good too.
On a side note: Boo to Applebee's (wtf is that?) and Olive Garden (it's just so gross). T.G.I Friday's has some pretty good appetizers. Fried goodness never hurt anyone...well, in small amounts, at least. :)
When my parents come to town I like to get them to take me to The Oyster Bar cause I fucking love seafood and its awesome, but I can't really afford it normally.
Being in NY i usually don't go to restaurants multiple times a lot cause there are so many choices that you never really run out of places to try, cept for the Corner Bistro. I love alcohol and cheeseburgers, so its perfect
Should I even contribute?
In Florence:
Lo Skipper ~amazing Sicilian food!
Open Bar ~right on Arno so it has a great view, and the food is delicious (typical pasta/pizza)
Perseus ~this is where you should get your bistecca fiorentina
