If i had to sum up twitter I would call it a think tank ... a place to throw out ideas, ask questions, build relationships, get direction , find & share fun links. It's a culmination of all of the social media sites in one.
In the year and half I've used twitter I've found & met local people, been offered a few jobs (including a speaking engagement!) learned what was going on in my city and learned more about the people I already knew through the blogging world.
Yeah - I'm in the "not quite sure how to use it" camp. I post random stuff there - really really really random stuff. Like quotes I hear people say, or links to funny articles. Makes sense that it's more fun if you have friends you know on it. Some people are fun to follow just because of their pure randomness.
I've noticed that a substantial number of people here don't enjoy or understand the purpose of Twitter. To tell you a fact I myself don't understand the need, significance and use of twitter. Having said that, I've tweaked my twitter account so that the updates are taken care of automatically through my Friendfeed account.
However, I've come across a site which I think can be an excellent resource to one and all and especially to the the group of people here who don't use twitter (maybe). This site is called Posterous. I use it as an additional blog wherein I just randomly post quotes, great files to download which I find online, an event happening in my city et al. I must add that this site allows you to add any number of characters (I hate the characters limit applicable in twitter). Posterous is extremely easy to use and you can create new posts simply by sending them an email. Also note that every post of mine has a signature which links to my blog(s), so maybe it can add as yet another traffic building exercise. One more advantage of using this site is that it again automatically updates my twitter account whenever I make a new post.
I'd appreciate the feedback to know what you'll think of this site. You can feel free to check my posterous page and join the network by clicking here.
hahaha... all these mixed feelings. My cat killed my computer so until it's back from Best Buy I can't play around with Twitter anymore than once every few days from my friends computer. I'm definately not addicted to it or anything. Still not sure what the point is. Hopefully when I get my computer back I'll be able to figure it out.
my friend sam and his room mate are so addicted to twitter, they can't talk anymore. they already know everything the other one's done all day every day.
