The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I just posted a blog on something that gets me really passionate.

Following the quote "If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything", what cause get you impassioned? What is your soupbox topic?

In the last few months, some political stuff has really got my panties in a bind! In particular, Prop 8 being passed and all this bailout crap. If you want to read the posts, you can find them here...

Prop 8
11/5/08 - One Giant Leap Forward And One Giant Leap Backwards

Economy (recession and bailout)
10/1/08 - The Great Depression v2.0
12/9/08 - Competition Makes You Better. Failure Makes You Wiser.
Probably primarily sexism, racism, and things that affect children.

That said, my brother told me: 'your problem is that you care about EVERYTHING. you care too much about everything.'

Hah so perhaps I get worked up too often--for the record, I consider myself quite chill!
I think the two topics that could sent me ranting for hours are gay marriage (Prop 8 most recently) and education. Luckily, I get to do something soon about education in this country soon working for Teach for America, but I'm sure my friends aren't excited about the fact that it will just add more fuel to my ranting fire.
Judgement. There are a lot of bad things in the world. There are a lot of things we should fight against. But against someone because of their race, or religion, or sexual orientation is in my opinion a waste of time. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but why does it bother some people so much that a man loves another man? Or someone worships another God? Or someone was born with a different color skin? This doesn't make them any less productive. They are still human, a body builder is still just as strong, gay or straight. A scientist is still just as smart Christian or Hindu. A sick person is still just as sick black or white.
In my opinion, everyone is equal. Everyone has their own skills, and weaknesses. Everyone is entitled to do what they want to make themselves happy. And no one should be thought less of by their actions, beliefs or appearance. You should think about what this person does that affects you, and not what doesn't affect you. For instance, your server or financial specialist should be judged on their skills as a server or financial specialist. Not based on what gender they like, or what skin color they were born with.
Looks like politics is a big one, here.

Gay marriage, religion and economics are things I could talk all day about. But as a far-right conservative, I know my views conflict with just about all of my readers and most people my age (read: potential readers). I've decided it's just too divisive to be worth it.

But that's coming from a guy who actually aspires to have a lot of readers, which may be a problem, itself.

That being said, I admit I have trouble coming up with anything truly important to write about, without touching those topics.

So to answer the question, "What is your soupbox topic?": Nothing, really.
Prop 8, racism, and rape are my berserk buttons.

Prop 8
"The Pursuit of Happiness"

Racism
"I Have A Dream Today"
"Poo On Them!"

Rape
The Day The Innocence Died
