Digg is a social news aggregator. In basic terms, Digg users submit links to news stories and other content that interests them and users vote on what they like or feel is important. The most popular stories show up on the front page. This is the same way that Reddit and other social news sites work.

I haven't spent too much time with the redesign that launched earlier this week, so I haven't seen what all they've changed about that model since I was an active user, but it appears that you can customize your stream by following individual news outlets in addition to watching the top stories feed.

I love digg! But I agree, the new digg is not as good. Thumbs down.

Oh my gosh, umm Digg is where anything interesting on the internet ends up, and it's accompanied by a totally rad show called the Totally Rad show where the creators of digg get together and talk about the top 10 diggs of the week. People can submit things that they find humorous, well written, interesting, fantastic, anything good and other people can either digg it or not. There is no negative, that's a nice touch. I'm glad you're finally finding out what this marvelous site for everything good is. You'll be glad you joined. Digg.
