I ended my twenty five minute run/walk with a slowdown Vinyasa 40-minute session of Yoga. Can I just tell you how good it felt to stretch my muscles? I seriously miss the floor. That sounds weird, but you… I… almost become one with the floor. You let your body guide you. It’s crazy. My Downward Dog pose has completely changed. My feet are almost touching the floor as to when I first started (this was mid Sophomore year of college, and the year was 2003-ish!). It’s amazing.
To be at peace with your body, and just focus for once, on yourself.
For me, the best exercise I get is running (but I find it so hard to motivate myself!) but my favorite is definitely yoga. It's just peaceful and calming but you're doing so much with your body at the same time. It's fun. I like it.
I'd love to get into dancing, though! I think it would be a really fun way to exercise!
Okay, I know I'm a dork, but I do Richard Simmons vdeos. The music is good, and dancing is fun. Plus they get your heart going without having to do any technical type moves or be too cordinated.
If I'm not doing that, I'll ride my recumbent bike, because I can read and work out at the same time.
I just got back to Yoga recently, after a year's slump because my yoga teacher left and the silence freaked me out too much. Then one day things in my head got so messed up that I just had to be upside down so that I could see them upright, and that's when the silence wasn't so scary anymore.
I share your sentiment: Yoga's underratedly awesome.
What a great question. It's so hard not to be down on ourselves for not exercising enough. As a dancer, I always feel this pressure. Husband and I have been going to the gym lately, but I'd rather do tennis, or yoga, rock-climbing...something where there are also people around you working out I find it much more encouraging! Haha, I often try to find activities where I don't have to focus too much on myself, I feel like I do that too much anyways!
I loooooove Zumba! I've been doing it for the past two years & I'm hooked for life!
Every morning I do the eliptical, weights, & abs. Then at night usually Pilates then Zumba!
Oh, how I love yoga. I have a rotten back and yoga has improved it sosoSO much. It is amazing how much better I feel when I take the time to practice yoga a few times a week.
My absolute favorite workout is playing soccer. Does that count?! I like it for the social aspect (especially when we go to the bar after the game) as much as I like it for the sweat.
I'm on day 9 of the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels. It is KICKING MY ASS but it is so worth it!
At the gym, I love the elliptical and the bike.
In the last 9 days alone, I've toned up, my endurance is better and I'm a little more flexible. I move on to level 2 tomorrow and level 3 for the last 10 days :)
I've been doing a Jillian Michaels workout I found On Demand and getting my ass kicked too! I love it though - it's the perfect workout jammed into 30 mins. I'm still in pain from last night's workout, but can't wait to do it again.
