Laughing and relating are definitely going to get the most votes I think.
But the key to remember is that some people can laugh and relate to a story about menstrual cramps but others won't. They might find discussion of best workout practices most engaging, who knows?
Personally, I wouldn't want to hear about either of those, and that's why it's a good thing there's millions of people out there to create a whole fuckin rainbow of personalities.
I am more likely to continue reading a blog if the writer is at least able to properly communicate and I am able to follow what they are saying. Most importantly, I prefer to read blogs that I have interest in, pertain to my life or I can relate to.
I really hate blogs that project a perfect life. I want to see problems. I want to see some dirty laundry. I want to see something real.
This is exactly it. I don't want to read about someone's wedded bliss or their perfect children or their fabulous life. I want to read about someone's LIFE. The good, the bad and the ugly. I like blogs that make me laugh, make me cry and make me think all at the same time.
Also, I have a hard time reading blogs where EVERY post is 15 paragraphs long. Mix it up a bit. Post some short stories, some pictures, some lists (I love reading peoples' "favorites" lists) some random quick thoughts...
It doesn't take much for me to subscribe, but to hang around, I usually have to develop some kind of relationship with the blogger. I think a connection has more to do with me continuing to read than any kind of semi-objective opinion of the blog itself.
I have definitely deleted blogs from my reader if the blogger didn't post often enough (at least once every two weeks) or if it just got plain boring.
There are a lot of "popular" blogs out there that I just don't get as to why they are popular...seriously, do ppl think "everybody else reads them, so i should read them too" ?
keep me entertained, make me laugh or make me relate, and my blogger heart is yours : )
Its so hard to say definitively. There are different blogs that I dig for different reasons, some because they're hilarious, some because they're touching. The writer just has to be interesting, I guess. <-More interesting than this response, for sure.
I love blogs that make me laugh and giggle, also those who make me think. It's better if it's a mixture of both, so more varied to read. I like bloggers who also write about their honest personal insights that can make me know them a bit more. These kind of bloggers keep me coming back for more. Gotta admit it's pretty boring reading blogs with just one theme.
