Humor is what attracts me most but, ultimately, if the post is thoughtful, well-written, and smart it doesn't matter what the topic is.
Smart, well-written, and unique are all preferred. A unique writing style, subject matter, or something absurdly funny keeps me reading as well.
Thanks for sharing Ninja :)
A lot of the blogs I read are humor based, so I have to admit that is an attraction for me. I also enjoy the well written, well thought out, meaningful posts where someone has an epiphany or idea they want to share with everyone. I guess the only ones I won't read are ones that feel rambling to me, but it's rare that I don't finish reading a post once I've started it!
In that case, check this out: Short Messages
I love humor. But I read a lot of blogs that aren't funny.

You can tell even through a person's writing whether or not they are being genuine and passionate.

That's what I love. Passion.

I mean if someone writes about their fascination with different types of light bulbs... And does it with amazing passion?

I'll read.
excellent point Amanda :)
I usually have ADD when reading blogs, I have a bad habit of scanning to the bottom of the post where most either ask a question or sum up their post. If it seems interesting enough, I go back to the top and see if the intro is engaging enough. For me in order to read a long post, the beginning has to be very engaging and interrupt my current thought pattern for me to draw total attention to it. One blogger in my opinion who does this very well is Tim Ferris of the Four Hour Work Week. Another blogger I havent read in a while but enjoyed was Steve Pavlina, his are very drawn out but usually his topics are engaging enough to make it a worthwhile read.

What about you Chatterbox?
I need to feel like there is a story there. You know, with a beginning, middle, and end. I get frustrated when I feel like someone is just rambling (which I definitely do myself, but this doesn't apply to me, right?!? :) ) but if I feel like its going somewhere and there will be an overall point, I will usually stick around!
Thank you for sharing your views :)
If there is a good picture, I tend to be curious about the picture, and am willing to read just about all the post if it describes the whos, wheres, whats of the picture.

A good tag is nice too...but too many people (im guilty as well) post a tag that does not really match thier post.
