The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I have a friend going through a tough breakup right now. I've been there before too, and know it's hard. How have other people dealt with it? For me a combo of ice cream, venting, and a lot of time did the trick.

The best answer is time. You just have to ride it out, recognize and accept the emotions, and go through it. Realize that it's part of the process and it will pass, like the rise and fall of a wave.

Also, listening to uplifting music helps. My "break up anthem" was a song by an indie artist called "This is Not the End" by Laura Gibson. Very fitting and the words kept repeating in the song (not to mention, I kept repeating the song on repeat!) so that it became my new mantra and it gave me inner strength. I also try to think positively. Remind myself of the things I am grateful for. Friends, community. Try to hang out with more of my friends. Go running, etc.
when I left my ex the first thing I did was get my hair restyled and colored it. I lost a lot of weight too. Then I went out and partied my ass off every night for about 2 months straight. My bank balance didn't appreciate it much, but it was amazing. I reconnected with friends that he had "disapproved" of, I tried some new things, I found a job (since I'd been a homemaker the 3 years we were together) and now 6 months on I'm very happy without him and in a wonderful relationship with someone else.
Sounds like a great plan. Thanks for sharing!
