Eet by Regina Spektor.
(But I suppose it could be interpreted as losing someone or something.)
Permalink Reply by Dave on February 16, 2011 at 10:46pm I wish I could remember the title. I was karaoking one night with some friends, and for whatever reason one of the girls put on this horribly depressing song that I think had something to do with an LA girl wanting to kill herself. No one was singing it, so I picked up the mic and sang it and then everyone thought I picked the song and they all felt like crying by the end! It was a good laugh when I finished and told them I had never heard the song before but felt bad for it playing with no one singing!
Anyway, something about an LA girl (I think) wanting to kill herself. It was awful... I wish I knew what it was!

for a fun take on a similar theme, try 'every f**king city' by Paul Kelly.
They're both fantastic.
