The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Or, if you want to make it extra challenging, make it a sad song that's ALSO not about death.

God damn, something's wrong with my settings. It shows me what I've responded to but not discussions I've actually started.

Thanks, everyone. I haven't heard most of these songs before. I'll post on this thread as I get to hear them.

"I Lost on Jeopardy" by Weird Al Yankovic could be considered a sad song, with Weird Al losing on Jeopardy despite his best efforts and all.

Ok, I've got nothing.

HAHAH! That IS sad.

Oh Weird Al...

One time my mom and sister (while driving) saw him walking down the street.

My mother proceeded to roll down her window and shout, "We love you Weird Al!"

Gee, Mom.

Oh man, I'd like to run into him one day.  I'm trying to get him to follow me on Twitter, but that could be a sad song in and of itself.

Write him a song.

In 140 characters or less, of course.

ooo what a unique question!

Have you ever heard of the song "La Historia de Juan" by Juanes (a Colombian alt-rock singer)? I cry every time I hear it! It's so beautifully written and incredibly poignant...plus Juanes has a wonderful voice and knows how to play the guitar!

OH MY GOD JUANES IS AWESOME.  My Spanish teacher from sophomore year of high school played La Historia de Juan for us as a listening comprehension kind of thing, and we convinced him to pirate copies of "Un Dia Normal" for all of us.  At first it was ironic love, then it was sincere.  The opening track of that album is a total jam.

that's how I got started listening to him too!

have you listened to "La Historia de Juan"?

Yes I...uh...already mentioned that in my prior post haha
wow...that was...embarrassing! I think I'm going to blame the fact that it's 3 am and I'm clearly sleep-deprived. yikes
It's okay, I've been there before.  Not right now, but I've definitely been in your shoes hahaha.

I have two that always stood out to me:

The first is "Rocket Boy" by Jets To Brazil.  It's an eight minute minimalist epic, pretty sure it's about watching someone go through addiction.  If I was one for suicide, this would probably be the one I'd off myself to.

The other is "Tonight We're Gonna Give It 35%" by Against Me!  I think it's supposed to be about them deciding to sign to one of their first record labels despite popular pressure not to, but the whole song drips with sincerity and self-doubt and the stomach churning realization that you're in over your head and you don't even remember how you got there.  My god, that band used to be incredible.
