Thanks, everyone. I haven't heard most of these songs before. I'll post on this thread as I get to hear them.

Ok, I've got nothing.

Oh Weird Al...
One time my mom and sister (while driving) saw him walking down the street.
My mother proceeded to roll down her window and shout, "We love you Weird Al!"
Gee, Mom.

Have you ever heard of the song "La Historia de Juan" by Juanes (a Colombian alt-rock singer)? I cry every time I hear it! It's so beautifully written and incredibly poignant...plus Juanes has a wonderful voice and knows how to play the guitar!

Permalink Reply by Tim King on February 23, 2011 at 4:19am I have two that always stood out to me:
The first is "Rocket Boy" by Jets To Brazil. It's an eight minute minimalist epic, pretty sure it's about watching someone go through addiction. If I was one for suicide, this would probably be the one I'd off myself to.
The other is "Tonight We're Gonna Give It 35%" by Against Me! I think it's supposed to be about them deciding to sign to one of their first record labels despite popular pressure not to, but the whole song drips with sincerity and self-doubt and the stomach churning realization that you're in over your head and you don't even remember how you got there. My god, that band used to be incredible.
