It's June 1, and that means air conditioners are turning on all over the country... including mine! I turn on the air when it gets super humid, or when it's in the 80s... I then set it to 77. I turn it off when the temp goes back down. What about you? Anyone like it refrigerator cold? Anyone anti- AC?
we don't have AC :( sad day... the reason? we live in western washington- where it rains or is overcast most days. When it is hot those 3 days a year- we just suck it up and turn on some fans.
I love those three days. I used to work at Walgreens and we would inevitably get swamped by folks coming in, absolutely desperate for any kind of fan. And it still happens every single year.
What the hell do people do with their fans anyway in that year, anyway?
I'm in Seattle too...and I prefer the fans. But NOOOO I get to go to those places where they turn on the AC when it hits 70!
Or, like last year, when we go a month (!!) without rain in the 80/90s and you go from the heat outside to a freezer inside. Which is why, even when it's hot outside, I normally carry a hooded zip-up.
mine goes on any time of the year... i don't really give a damn too much. if it's warmer than about 74 in the house during the day, i go crazy, yet I'm fine with outdoor heat. lol. I turn it down to around 72 at night. when my ex and i lived together, he used to insist upon having it down at 65 at night and 72 during the day. the 65 worked okay, but then again we had both of us, a 50lb dog and the cat in the bed too and I find it hard to believe that it ever actually got down to 65 in our apt- probably more around 68.
Our AC isn't working much these days...willbe calling a tech out soon to the house. HOWEVER! When we finally get it working properly, it will be on COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have horrendous allergies, and most of the time when I step outside I start sneezing, tearing up, etc.
Used to live in Atlanta and got used to the day the heat went off the A/C went on. It's not so much about the temperature control, since we keep it set around 74ish, but my allergies are 1000x better when we don't open the windows and let all the pollen and shit blow in.
As we're living with family, our bedroom is a mix of our bedroom, computer room, game room and living room. So we just have a fan that definitely cools everything down quickly. If we get out, we switch the fan on. If we get too cool, we'll switch the fan off.
As for when we're on our own, normally whenever it's 70s+ outside.
