it's usually featured on a blog i'm already reading. i read the first post or the post that was featured and if they intrigued me, i add them to my subscriptions to follow and they're kind of under personal review. i'm conscious of whether i'll like /not like their blog and then if i don't, i delete. if i do, i put in an actual folder.
once i'm a fan of someone, i usually forgive all sorts of blogging annoyances. in other words, i'm pretty loyal.
I go through the blogrolls of blogs I've already found (on accident, through Twitter, or otherwise) and enjoy. I follow a lot of reputable foodies on Twitter so they tweet about some awesome blogs every now and then.
I also usually take a look at the blog rolls of the blogs I already follow. I like blogs that include lots of pictures and that are not too wordy. A lot of times the blog template and style can either attract me or turn me away - I don't like it to be too busy.
I've found a lot of new blogs through 20sb. But most of the time my new blog reads come from clicking on a link of a blog I already follow, then I just see where that leads me. I've found some awesome blogs this way, its even how I found 20sb!
I do the same as a lot of other people. Either I go through blog rolls and see what other people are reading, or a blog was featured on one of my friends blogs. Checking out my commenters blogs are fun too because usually if they enjoy my blog, I'll enjoy theirs, too!
Apart from going through peoples' blogrolls (I feel so creepy saying that!), I also check out blogs if they've left a clever/funny comment on someone else's blog.
I do check out blogs if people say something interesting/strange on the forums.

I always check my commenter's and follower's blogs. Plus blog rolls/ recommendations on blogs I like.
I also go through every new member when they join 20sb and check out their blogs. (Which may or may not be slightly neurotic)
I'm trying to figure this out as well. I know there are so many great blogs out there that I haven't read yet, simply because I don't know where to find them.
