Just wondering who pays 25 to have their blog promoted? Did it work?

I am really, really considering it but haven't yet, so I'll be watching this discussion to see what people say! I can say, however, that one blog I read on a regular basis I found through the $25 ads, so it works to some degree, at least!

Yes, I will say most blogs I religiously follow are ones that I have seen through some sort of advertisement on a website or through word of mouth on twitter (ie: a friend keeps re-tweeting them). I want to dip into it, but the frugal side of me tells me to save my dollar bills for now. Maybe I will do it down the road! :)

I would like to, but haven't fully decided yet.
I dont use the promotional tools but I do pay to advertise on another blog for 10 a month and it aint too bad. :)
what is it?

What is your objective when you blog? To make money? If that's the case then you should be able look up examples of how much return you'll get from advertising or promotions.

If you're just blogging to contribute to the conversation / be noticed, then it depends how lonely you're feeling! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh_9QhRzJEs

It would be nice to make money (who wouldn't want extra income?!), but really, I'd just like to get it out there a little more in its demographic. Possibly beyond the US. We'll see. :) For now, what i'm doing works fine.

I haven't done it myself but the way you've framed the discussion isn't likely to get any feedback from your target group. Unless the point of your post was to belittle folks who've payed 25 bucks to have their blog promoted, that is.
Erin, I think you're reading a serious question as a condescending statement. I think Jessica was genuinely curious whether the people who have paid $25 have found it worth it; I don't think it was meant as "Who the heck would pay money to promote their blog?" which is sounds like how you're reading it. Perhaps I'm misinterpreting your response here, but I don't see anything belittling about the initial question.

Erin,

I was just curious if promoting on the front page has helped anyone reach a larger audience. I am not trying to belittle anyone at all. I ask out of curiosity because I was considering it.

More than four?  Getting a little greedy now, aren't we friend?

(but seriously if you haven't seen the video of Justin eating that pepper, you should stop whatever you were doing - which clearly can't be that important - and go watch it right now.)

YEAH! 4 views. Ha.Ha. justin!
