Because I can :)
i remember the first blog i ever started reading. for some unknown reason, she had such an impact on me that i decided to start blogging too. at the time, i hadn't really thought it out and didn't know the direction i wanted to take it. i'm slowly figuring it out, as well as myself in the process.

i read blogs that i can relate to, mostly. i really enjoy good writing, sarcasm, humor, and honesty. and every now and then, i'll follow/read a blog, even when the majority of it is irrelevant to me, if i really like/connect with the writer.
I feel the saaaaaaame way! I still love reading the blog that inspired me to start my own blog. I also love finding new blogs/bloggers that 'speak' to me :)

Same for me!

I just need to write and get things out. And I love reading about people's perspectives on things, showing me things I've never seen or heard of or experienced first hand. It's fun ;)
i blog for fun...
I blog to jot down experiences to either look back on later in life, or to share with people.

I read blogs because I find how others live their lives to be interesting, and perhaps I could somehow use that as an inspiration to live MY life to the fullest. :)
Thanks for the replies :)

I think it's really interesting how blogs work as a social medium, especially simple "slice of life" blogs that aren't about anything in particular.

In a blog, people write at length about every little experience they are going through, and the blogs are largely read by people outside of that person's social circle. It's interesting because you get a full disclosure of what that person is like or wishes they were like. Contrast that with something like Chatroulette or even meeting someone at a party and the same interaction or full disclosure of information becomes awkward.

Basically, I'm new to this whole blog thing and I'm trying to figure out what makes it such an interesting sub culture.
I've only been bloging for about a month...I started because my friends in America wanted to know about my adventures in Australia ( www.thetashface.blogspot.com ). But I recently made another blog...that is so much deeper. Its where I post my deep 'journal' topics...and the reason I joined this site, is in hopes of support with my blog. I guess I am trying to "self-help" and I thought of a blog as a way to hold me accountable, hopefully. Like you said, Joseph...its definitely a 'full disclosure' thing for me.

Nice question- cheers!

originally, it started as an anonymous escape when I was a teenager. I've had several different blogs since then. The most recent one was set up with the intention of it being a place of wedding inspiration and where I could keep track of the things related to my wedding. when the wedding was over and the marriage began to dissolve, i combined it with my personal blog since there was too much cross over. Now its about general life and my divorce. As for why I read them... just because I can. lol. I'm nosy. I like knowing about peoples lives.
I blog to make friends! ^_^
I don't have any friends in real life, lol.

Really, I read blogs because I like seeing how others live, having inspiration for crafts and just being a better person. You meet so many different tyes of people blogging. People you wouldn't meet otherwise.

I blog because I love to write. I always thought I would write a novel, but until that time I blog. It also helps with my emotional well being. You get to say things that are on your mind that you wouldn't get off your chest otherwise.
