we did it all the time in high school. my BFF back then and I had nearly identical dating records, and it was pretty much never awkward- in fact, we pretty much encouraged each other. Not to mention, the tiny little county I'm from in England, everyone's either related, or dating each other- it's impossible NOT to date someone your friends have already dated unless you're looking in the city.

I agree with Lexi, growing up in Anchorage there was a small dating pool. Some people were hurt, but then quickly forgot about it or got over it. What's important to remember is that the relationship ended for a reason, and it's not the new person's fault (unless of course they intentionally broke you up to date either person).

If I was close to a person's ex, I might have lunch with them or have a sit down talk, see what their feelings are about it. In the end, though, it ultimately comes to down whether you and the person you're interested in dating are willing to give it a go, no one else can say yea or nay.
