So, here is what I would like to know: your heroes, who are they? Who are the people in society that you look up to, that inspire you, that make you want to go all out and succeed. I'm not talking mom or pop, or even Obama (never the less, all good people), I'm talking about the trail blazers and the people who have worked hard to create a niche or whatever it may be that is important to you.
My heroes? Rick Mercer and George Stroumboulopoulos. Two guys who have worked hard to provide Canadians with interesting and current television media and who continue who reach out to those same people on venues that I have come to love, such as twitter, podcasts and blogging.
Growing up in Canada, there were very few role models that display a positive attitude towards social and political change (not to mention doing this on the CBC, of all places). Starting off in comedy troupes and a VJ respectively, they worked towards something better and never lost their sense of even-handed social justice and Canadian identity, despite working in an industry which has been historically dominated by American influence. Shows like "The Hour", "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" and "The Mercer Report" are what inspired me to find my own voice in the world.

Anyone who is still nice when things are going to shit for them, i've only met one person who's pulled it off in my 22yrs, and it's a true sign of goodness, unlike everyone else who tend to turn into a **** once things aren't going swimmingly

My heros are plenty - I worked with an amazing radio sportscaster named Kelly Moore, who works in Kamloops BC now. He took me under his wing when I was in college when he was still in Winnipeg. I owe a lot of that part of my life to Kelly for sure. Fearless Fred Kennedy (currently with the Bear in Edmonton) is one of my best friends and has also been a mentor to me. But I also really look up to a lot of people I don't know, musicians, actors, etc. I also think my Dad is pretty cool, he's worked really hard all his life and been a terrific Dad, couldn't ask for a better father!
