The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Is anyone participating in National Novel Writing Month (in November)?

from the nanowrimo.org site:

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.

Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It's all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.

you could still start! you wouldnt be far behind (too much)
sweet beans! I'll add you as a writing buddy. this is my first year doing it and i'm kind of on a roll, but whenever I stop to think about it, i realize that 50,000 is A LOT of words and I get scared, so I try not to think about it so much...good luck to you!!
This is my first year doing NaNoWriMo and I love it so far. I'm way behind, but I have faith to catch up! :)
Good luck. I would suggest no editing. Throw caution to the wind and write. Do not edit yourselves. Get it all out. Then when the month is up you will have a plenty of material to edit and cut into something. I know someone who did NNWM and ended up publishing the book and turning it into a real success. She had of course published a novel prior but the novel she wrote during NNWM really made her career and got her a nice two book deal. The book is called Self Storage and the author is Gayle Brandeis, in case you want to see what you can accomplish in a month.
I'm also doing NaNoWriMo this year for the first time. I'm super behind because I'm also a full time college student and hold down a part time job at the hospital, but it's been a great inspiration. Even if I don't make it to 50,000 words by the end of November, I can still say I put in my best effort. Plus, I can keep writing after NaNo and finish a novel which is something I've never done before; I'm usually more of a prose and poetry kind of girl.

I'm ElaHalina on NaNo, if anyone wants to follow :)
how is everyone doing in the novel writing so far? everyone where they are supposed to be?

I barely reached 20K....
I just won! 50,005 words in 29 days, and juggling college (during the last, busiest month of the semester), work (in retail, during Christmas time), and wedding planning!
