The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I can't believe this wasn't already started, so I'm going ahead and starting it.

Where in Canada are you located? I have a feeling that a good chunk of you are in Central or Western Canada. For some reason, I have a hard time finding decent Eastern, especially Maritime, bloggers!

In case you couldn't figure it out, I'm a Maritime girl. I've lived in Halifax for 11 years, but before that I lived in Quebec for a decade, so I'm what you'd call a "Come from Away." Je suis française! Barely, these days.

So please share where you're from!

I've lived all around Toronto... (also New York for almost a year) but yeah: Mississauga, Waterloo... etc.
How was living in NY compared to TO? It seems like such an odd question, maybe. It's just that Toronto is a big city with a big city attitude, but I heard that no one beats New York's attitude. Are Canadians truly nicer, even in an overly populated city like Toronto, I wonder?
Ohh, I'm jealous. I'm from Toronto, and desperately want to move to New York. I can't figure out the Visa thing.
You don't want to live in New York. It's twice as expensive for what I think (having lived in both places) is the same exposure to culture. In fact, in Toronto the culture is more accessible. New York is also much dirtier and you have to deal with WAY more tourists. Tourists in New York will make you homicidal, I promise you that. And...the American dollar is crap at the moment.
I honestly think I would ignore all of that, just to live in NYC. I've wanted to live there my whole life. Every time I've visited, the moment I step off the plane, I feel like I'm home. I can't really explain it, but it's nothing like what I feel when I'm in Toronto. Even just being in New York, not doing anything at all, I feel inspired. To me, that would be worth the expense.
And... I'm not sure if you've been to Toronto or NYC lately, but T.O. has gotten SO dirty, like I'm disgusted to even walk around. And when I went to NYC recently (late summer of last year and mid-winter of this year), I was actually shocked by how clean it was. I made several comments to the people that I was with that it is much cleaner than Toronto is these days.
Soooo 8 months later...
Yes, I love NY. Every day has such potential. I don't think Toronto is any cleaner nor do I think the people are any nicer. As for Toronto being more culturally accessible... I think in either city you just have to know where to go. In NY, yes, it is harder to get away from tourists. But there are way more opportunities for everything else. Try New York if you can! I love Toronto, but nothing compares to the great N.Y.C!
I totally love NYC. I went to school there and lived there for 3 years (I spent one abroad). People in Toronto are definitely friendlier in the sense that you walk down the street and not everyone is glaring. And I think Toronto is, in many ways, more culturally accessible. Also, the pace of life and the cost of living in NYC are ridiculous. It's great, but it can get exhausting. And that whole "Sex and the City" lifestyle is a total lie. But they're both amazing cities, it's true.
I grew up in Ontario (just north of Toronto) and now live in Vancouver BC.
Believe it or not I haven't found any other Vancouver bloggers. Mostly I've seen Ontarians
If I lived in Vancouver, boy howdy you better believe I'd be one of those cool tv show groupies that is always hanging around the sets of Battlestar Galactica and the X-Files. Seriously, I wouldn't want to work because I'd be living in such close proximity to 3/4 of the people I adore.
hehe you just get used to it after a while really. Jennifer Aniston was filming a movie right around the corner from my work for a few weeks. They were always filming on campus when I was a student. Johnny Depp, Colin Farell etc. are in town filming that movie Heath Ledger was in. But I don't really see any of these people around the streets very often.
I actually met a bunch of guys who work on the set of Battlestar Galactica about 6 months ago. We didn't keep in touch though.
I get star-struck just seeing the local news anchor. True story: Two guys from Lifetime's show X-Weighted came through my cash and I couldn't even look at them because I was nervous. Of two people who went on a show just to lose weight. I am such a dork, I don't think I'd survive an encounter with a big celebrity very well. I'd be one of those crying twerps hyper-ventilating for an autograph if I ran into any of the BSG crew.
I agree that it gets old. I missed handing in my final paper for a class once because they were filming jPod right outside the door and I was really pissed off.
