The Bloggers With The Most To Say

So did anyone else see the movie this weekend? I did, despite being leery of the actress but you know what? I really, really enjoyed the movie! I thought she did well as Becky, and so what if I could watch Hugh Dancy read the ingredients off of a cereal box?

I thought the movie stayed close enough to the book, yet didn't mind the differences they included. It wasn't a very thought-provoking movie, but neither were the books - All in all, I thought it was a perfect movie to go see with the girlfriends.

Although, my gilfriend and I did go purse shopping after seeing the movie, so clearly, we learned nothing. :)

What did you think of it?

I thought the movie was cute, but the differences between the book and the movie were too many for me. Of course the book was better than the movie, but they just changed too many things in my opinion. I hate it when movies change the location from the book.

But I would recommend seeing it, because I did like it. I've learned not to expect movies to be anything like the book!
And it is funny, my favourite pashmina is a turquoise green one and I've been wearing it all winter!
I just saw it this weekend and I thought it was GREAT! It had been a long time since I finished the book, so I wasn't super-aware of the differences between that and the movie. It made me WANT to shop though! I would love to live just one day as Becky Bloomwood (before her big closet sale) all those beautiful clothes and no fear of credit card debt! That would be fun...for a day...until you had to face reality!
I finally saw it. Overall I did like it. I enjoyed picking out little things from the first two books that managed to make it into the books. Like when she was waitress-ing and was told, "Just put down the plate." Yes different people said it in the movie vs the book, but overall I think it captured the essence of it.
I thought that separately, the book and the movie were both great! Comparatively, I found the movie lacking. It combined two books in the series and left out a lot of good information, I thought. I also think it gave away some of the third book in the series, though I hope not because I haven't read it yet.
I honestly couldn't even finish watching the movie. I guess I was just really bothered at how the story line was completely different from the book and some of the characters had different roles than what was in the book (i.e. Luke?? what?? I won't spoil it though...).

I still think it's a fairly good movie, but for me, since I'm sooo dead set on movies being as similar as possible to the books (like Harry Potter, Watchmen, etc. all did wonderfully) that it was kind of hard for me to swallow.
I watched it as I love the books and found it okay...wouldn't watch it again, though. I love loyalty to the books and even though the movie was still good with it's similarities, it was too over-the-top for my liking.

Then again, this is a weird one for me because even though I adore the books, I just don't like Becky Bloomwood. Sophie Kinsella is a very talented writer who has a fantastic writing style and the ability to create those embarrassing and hilarious situations, but the character? Hmm, she's just not believable. I think it's because Becky is supposed to be clever (she's a journalist) yet at the same time, she comes across as extremely dense. I know we can all be a bit ditzy at times but she's beyond a joke.

So inevitably, I found the same way about the character in both the book and movie (movie even more so!)

Maybe it's just me. Heck, I love the Harry Potter series but I just can't stand Harry Potter. :P

There's only one thing for it: GO SEE WATCHMEN! :D
I haven't read any of the books, and honestly I thought the movie was okay. Don't get me wrong it was cute and charming, but maybe just a tad too long for the less-than-thought-provoking content. Not sure if I'd buy it on DVD or not, but still a good hang-with-the-girls flick.
