The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Luckily, there's only been one or two that I've picked up and read and by the time I had finished, couldn't figure out why I bothered to finish it in the first place! The one that stands out though, was called Tart, by Jody Gehrman. It was weird, I loved everything about the book (the cover, the plot, the secondary plot and characters...) except for the main character herself! It was really the first time I couldn't identify with anything she was going through or feel any empathy towards her.

How about you? Any books you've read that you would suggest NOT reading?

i actually read them all in order and i still liked baby proof. i did, however, take a bit of a break between reading the something borrowed, something blue books and the final two so maybe that gave me a different perspective. either way, i still love emily giffin. her voice is so easy to read and extremely captivating.
COMPLETELY agree.
I was just tricked by a book masquerading as a chick-lit novel, but was really it's identical evil twin. And the main character in the book even HAD an identical evil twin, and I was totally fed up with them both! It was called "The Secret Heiress" by Judith Gould. The only character I liked was murdered in a gruesome scene! That's just one example of how the cute cover and plot summary fooled me into thinking it would be a fun read. It was all sorts of wrong. I felt like it was written on opposite day.
Diary of a Manhattan Call Girl - This had SO much potential as a funny yet interesting book but it was such a let-down. It was just...boring...yet there were so many opportunities for interesting scenarios. And the ending was strange, I thought someone had pulled a prank and ripped out the last 50 pages. But it wasn't a practical joke, it was just a bad book. It was like the author had rushed it.

Citizen Girl is another one. Just one way to describe that one, though: W.T.F?
Oh wow, Diary of a Manhattan Call Girl ad Citizen Girl are two of my favorite books. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy them!
I haven't been able to bring myself to read this one yet, I LOVE Something Borrowed, loved Something Blue, and liked Baby Proof...but just the premise of Love the One Your With makes me not want to read it. Everyone I know IRL who has read it says that's it's boring and annoying. Don't think I will be able to read it any time soon.
This is the only Emily Giffin book I've read. I liked it, though so maybe I should check out her other books.
I also found Baby Proof to be just okay. I loved Something Borrowed and Something Blue, but Baby Proof just felt slow. I'm planning on reading Love the One Your With very soon.

I thought 4 Blondes by Candace Bushnell was terribly boring. The characters are barely even tolerable. I haven't read anything else by her since.
I thought Trading Up by Candace Bushnell was awful. I finished it, but it took me FOR-EV-ER and I'm a speed reader. The main character was wayyyy shallow, I couldn't identify with anything in the entire book. Do not recommend.
I was disappointed with Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner, which is unfortunate because I loved Good In Bed so much. My reasons for disliking it are purely selfish, though because I wanted that happy ending I'd been imagining, and didn't get it. For those intending to read it, it DOES have a happy ending...maybe somewhat bittersweet.
I hated the "Courtesan" series by Claudia Dain. Everyone who likes the books says they like the main character, but I think she is annoying and unrealistic. The author does so much telling about her and no showing; I feel like the character is this vapid pasteboard stand in for a real person.
Oh I liked Wags Diary! I've been really dissapointed with Sarah Webb's books. Didn't like lipstick jungle and can never get going with anything by Freya North.
