Joe the Art of Coffee: really awesome - and not only because I'm friends with some of the employees
Ninth Street Espresso: see above
Think Coffee: It's basically a coffee shop for NYU students (hooray for free wifi), but the coffee is so good AND they have a great social mission. Oh - and their grilled cheese sandwiches are super tasty.
Those are my faves. Starbucks absolutely doesn't stand a CHANCE against these guys.
Think is one of my usuals - love that place! Also used to go to Outpost in Brooklyn a lot because I lived near there, but haven't been back since I moved. Not a whole lot of great places in my new neighborhood, so I'm traveling more. I'm checking out Sit and Wonder today. Also a fan of Pick Me Up in the LES.
I'll have to check out Joe the Art of Coffee and Ninth Street Espresso next week. Do you know if they have wifi?
The Joes at 23rd and 9th and in Grand Central don't have wifi... I'm not sure about the others. And as far as I know, none of the Ninth Street's have it either. I think they're very low key, straight up coffee places. Think is usually where I go when I want good coffee AND wifi :)
You should check out Gimme! Coffee too - I hear it's good, but I'm not sure about the wifi situation.
