Their intense willingness to take on larger dogs, their 'sweet' smell from their paws, the way they love to dog pile on their humans, how silly they get when food is in the picture, and their joy when we come home after a day out!
They really do love to take on larger dogs. I could swear my dachshund thinks he is the size of a lab, if not bigger!
My favorite part is how they snuggle no matter what! If I'm having a bad day or just want to sit and vegg out on the couch Waldi is right there no matter what. I tell everyone he is a professional snuggler. Even my Dad, who is less than thrilled with small dogs, absolutely loves to snuggle with Waldi. My Dad looks forward to us coming home so he can nap with Waldi!
I have noticed that dachshunds tend to win over everyone they come into contact with, even those who claim not to like small dogs! Waldi sounds like a great little guy. Cuddling with my doxie is one of my favorite things. :)
They have so much personality and general characteristics that I find all dachshunds have. My favorite are that they like to sunbathe, tuck their nose in your arm when sleeping in your lap, how they curl up in anything, their "ask for forgiveness rather than permission" attitude, and how they follow you wherever you go. I actually blogged about this...

I LOVE the pictures you included in your blog about dachshund characteristics!
This may be true for all dogs - but the best part to me is that you are the sun, the moon, and the stars. They are happy when you come home, never hold grudges, cuddle up as close as they can possibly get before slumping over in total relaxed sleep, confident in your ability to keep them from harm.
Its so true, they don't hold grudges! No matter what they will cuddle in as close as possible and pass out. They are so dedicated to people that they would climb or jump over anything to get to you the moment you come in the door after being gone...even just for ten minutes.
My dachshund demands to cuddle. Its really funny. If I have something on my lap (usually my mac), he will stick his nose under it and try to throw it off to make himself room. Or he will just plop his butt on top of it. Ha. Luckily he is light.
