The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I just broke up with a guy I used to be friends with before we dated, and he was more of a family friend before anything. Breaking up with him was the most difficult thing i did in my entire life, even though i knew it wasnt working out. Yet now i feel guilty whenever there are awkward silences amidst us in a group, or when he doesnt show up just because I would be there. He has even stopped visiting my family, cos obviously its too difficult for him. Well thats my story - want to share yours?

One time I dated the craziest person in the world. I could write volumes of books on just some of our nights. I was young and she was manipulative. I wanted to break up with her probably for a few months, but I was literally scared of what she would do. We lived together and I knew I couldn't rationally talk this out with her so this is what I did:

While she was at work I moved my stuff into storage. (I was in the military at the time) When she came home I was sitting on the couch. She noticed things were missing, nothing major. I moved in with her so I only had minor stuff there. She asked me what was going on and I told her..."Well, I am getting deployed to Turkey on Monday.." I wasn't really getting deployed at that very moment, but they were telling us we were probably going to be leaving soon. I told her I was leaving and that I think since I was going to be gone for such a long time that I really think we should go our separate ways. This happened on a Friday. She freaked out and went through a gamut of psychological states. She went from sad to angry, to suicidal, to homicidal to thinking she was in a dream of some sort....it was scary. I learned a lot of life lessons from dating this girl.

Monday rolls around and she has dealt with it for the most part. She drives me on base and drops me off at my squadron. I'm dressed up in uniform, I have my bags all packed as if I were leaving for a 6 month deployment. We were crying and saying bye, then I walked into the squadron and everyone was like...Uhhhh, what are you doing? Why are you in uniform right now with you A bags packed? and then I explained to everyone how my gf was completely out of her mind and that I just told her I was leaving for Turkey for 6 months. It was really funny, and honestly, as I saw her drive away, I felt like I was narrowly escaping a hostage situation. A wave of freedom came over me. I have never dated a crazy person since. phew!!!
phew!
great that you atleast got to get away before it got out of hand...!
even though it took some doing on your part ;)
Breakups. Suck.
I'll just link: I rode the train past your house tonight.
Hello All!
a breakup that totally sucked for me was when it was done through a TEXT MESSAGE. I know technology has taken over and all, but how much (or lack thereof) respect does someone have to have to dump you in a text message? Luckily (I guess) the guy and I hadn't dated for long at all, but it was still a shot to your pride and well just sucked. You can find out exactly what happened in my blog Single Girl in San Diego
