Comment by Rebekah on April 26, 2011 at 5:58pm Have you guys heard about the 8-hour collaboration project between Amanda Palmer, Ben Folds, Damian Kulash of OK Go, and Neil Gaiman? They teamed up for the Re-think Music conference to write and record 8 songs in 8 hours yesterday and released the album on Bandcamp today. The point was to show how digital media makes record labels and "middle man" marketers obsolete, and artists have new ways of connecting and collaborating with their fans due to online communication and distribution methods.
All proceeds from album donations go to Berklee City Music, which provides free music education for underprivileged teens. Donate and download the album here, and read more about the project on Consequence of Sound's blog.
Comment by gate G6 on April 20, 2011 at 2:01am My series on Some of the Best Music You've Never Heard continues with The Submarines! Actually ... you probably have heard them (on iPhone commercials, Grey's, Gossip Girl) ... you just didn't know who they were. They are one of my favorite bands and have a great sound and story .. and they were playing in the Twin Cities tonight, so I got to see them LIVE again!!!! Check out today's post for some background, some photos from tonight, and some videos/lyrics of my favorite songs!

Comment by Kelli Shea on January 30, 2011 at 11:41pm My life has been driven by a lot of mix tapes and indie films...
Though it's not something I blog about, music & movies are a big part of my life. :)
And Dirty Projectors was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
