The Bloggers With The Most To Say

I'm not good at keeping things up when I'm doing them alone, and the motivation of future results doesn't work for me. What do you guys do to stay motivated when trying to lose weight/get fit/exercise?

Honestly, this is the first time I have ever had any real success with staying motivated. Right now I am entering the job market for the first time and stressed out by how difficult it has proven to be. Going to the gym (a) helps me blow of steam -and- (b) earns me my "Look, guys, I accomplished something today! I'm basically a real grown-up!" since I spend so much time sitting at my computer in my basement.

Aside from the fact that my life being in shambles is keeping me motivated, the other thing I recommend is signing up for classes. If the class is fun (like a dance class), then you will be more eager to go (as opposed to, say, running on the treadmill), and it increases your sense of accountability. If you go consistently and maybe chat with some of the others in the class, then you will start to feel more like you are being held accountable for attending (regardless of how true that actually is).

That's all I've got...
I'm really late on this, BUT... I have a few pictures taped on the mirror in the bathroom of what I would like to look like. I should probably tape them on the door of the food closet, but... it has helped a lot. I also used to have my husband take a picture of me in my bathing suit every Saturday... it was like a game to see how much I changed, and I always wanted to change more than last week so I worked extra hard. These are both sort of falling under the same category as "future results" but not completely...

I'm not even one week in, so I don't know how helpful I can be, but I'll try.

First off, my school is doing a Biggest Loser Pound for Pound challenge that will match the amount of weight lost (or stabalized) with pounds of food donated to a food shelter. So if I stick with it and manage to loose, say, five pounds, I'm making someone's life better.

The second thing is a podcast that helps you train to run a five K in eight weeks. Since I don't know much about exercising, it is very informative and it challenges me to complete the exercises. Look for something similar if you think that would help.

I set goals I want to accomplish. So for example, for this week I have the goal to burn at least 5,000 calories. So set realistic goals each week.
