Hey Team,
Today’s mission hits really close to home for me.
Laura is an art journalism student, blogger, oil painter, music/fashion junkie, and self-proclaimed “sunshine addict.” She is beautiful.
One year ago she was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a degenerative and incurable eye disease that will eventually cause her to lose her vision altogether.
As an art student myself, my greatest fear has always been becoming blind. In Laura’s post she talks about taking a shower with her eyes closed, having to take the bus, and tearing up at the thought of no longer being able to see what she paints.
My heart breaks for Laura as she struggles with losing her vision and learns to mold her loves and passions to her physical limitations. She remains optimistic and incredibly full of hope, and she has thoroughly challenged me in how I see the world.
