The Bloggers With The Most To Say

What do you do when both of you are not working? We don't have cable ... or any reception, so watching TV is out. We're trying to figure out other activities to do...

Card games! Quiddler and Bohnanza are our favorites.
Do you have a dvd player? I love movie nights!
Pets. Our two cats give us plenty to do.
Outdoors. Going for long walks is great now that the weather is warming up.
we play games, go to movies, go to book stores, go to coffeehouses to get out and talk, go to free concerts in the park (we have them all summer long around here), we just try to get out. We hate sitting at home in our tiny apartment.
Read, clean, do homework, talk, play nintendo, watch movies or tv shows via apple tv/hulu/abc online (no cable here either), play with our pets, etc.
My husband and I have our own home business so we go to vendor shows and other events together promoting our home business. We also go for a 3 mile walk every evening after dinner and sometimes at the park where we walk at if there is a junior league baseball game going on we will stay there and watch it just for something to do outside together that is free. We actually did that this past Saturday...there were 2 back-to-back junior baseball games going on so we got out the blanket and sat there and watched. If you don't like to watch baseball, we go to another local park where we can sit on the park bench with our coffee and watch the ducks and then we like to throw some frisbee too. Another thing we like to do that is free is walk up to the local elementary school that we live nearby and play "HORSE" at the basketball nets in the evening. We try and find anything we can do outside as much as possible.
I actually have learned to enjoy playing poker with the hubby :) I bought him a cheap poker set (he isn't into hardcore or anything) and figured we could play it together. I wanted to learn how to play texas holdem and he taught me (and I won alooot) It is definitely fun if your other half is up for it - you can get a poker set at $5 and below (if you have that store near you). Good luck finding ideas!

Often, we retreat to separate computers. When we do this, it's usually my husband playing some war game while I'm checking e-mail, network sites, and blogging, or playing a game of my own. Despite doing that often, I feel it's necessary to clarify that we are not "gamers" (nothing wrong with gamers; just thought I'd make it clear that we aren't). If there's lots of spare time, like on the weekends, we'll go fishing, hiking, window shopping, visit family/friends, watch silly B movies, or take our dog to the dog park.

We don't have cable, but we have a dvd player. Once a week we stop by the library and pick up several movies to watch for the week. We usually only get to watch one or two, but they're free so no harm in getting a few extra. As cliche and lame as it sounds, we like to have game nights with friends on occassion. There's this game, Carbles. Pretty freaking awesome.

A bunch of our friends had a progressive dinner recently. That was fun since we're all poor, apartment-bound, semi-newlyweds. It was great to check out our friend's places and eat good food.

Kurt and I like to go to slow strip malls and just walk around. Ones that have pet stores are pretty fun. We'll go for walks at sunset, prepare dinner together, read books, visit the beach or parks... simple, mostly free stuff is the best.

We love to go biking together and every once in awhile we will go hiking. But we love have our friends over and having bbqs or playing cards. Go to the beach. Anything that is cheap. And getting us out and active. At least that is what we are trying to do for this year goals.
We also love doing Saturday mini trips. We will go to the city and find local eateries and do touristy stuff on the cheap and try to find local spots. We live near San Fransisco right now and we try to go up every once in awhile and do something fun in the city. Yelp is a big help with that.  So be a tourist in your own town or a city near you. Its a lot of fun. Museums are fun to go to too and sometimes they have discounts.

We have separate computers, so we spend a lot of time on the internet. We read together (well, usually side by side, but you get the idea), watch a lot of TV and movies (downloaded from the internet and watch on a computer hooked up to a big screen in our living), travel, cook, go out to eat, spend time with family and friends. We play D&D with a group of friends and also have a standing video game night with others. :) It seems like we're always busy.
