Hiya! I'm new!
My dog's name is Wally. Before we got him, our other dog Sam was inside one night and did something completely stupid, as Labradors tend to do, and I laughed and said 'ERR you wally!' at him, and my dad and I just looked at each other and knew that when our new pup came along, that'd be his name. What's odd is we've never had a dog with a more appropriate name than Wally's.
My Yorkie's name is JAXX. There is no logical story to tell behind the name. However, I got a pitbull puppy at the beginning of the year and her name is Cali(fornia) because that is my dream Residence.

My mom loves dogs and she always wants to have a name with some real connection to something about the family or something about the dog. So as I grew up we had several dogs over the years:

Pinky (maltese) & Bongo (means Brain in Swahili, Dalmatian) ...Pinky & the Brain was her favorite cartoon at that time
Dallas (my stepdad is from Dallas, TX)
Nyla (my favorite movie is Lion King, and she looked like Nyla when she was a puppy)
Hollywood (sister to my pitbull, California)
Hey all:) Im new!!
My dog's name is Westley. He is a chihuahua terrier mix who is full of energy and loves to give kisses. My bf and I named him for our favorite movie, The Princess Bride, because the main male character is named Westley and its a pretty unique name for a dog :)
My dog Roxie's name was Autumn when we adopted her because she'd been found in the fall, but I'd never seen a pup that looked less like an Autumn. Roxie somehow suited her. Just recently we got a new puppy, and my mom and I decided on Pilot, one of the characters from our favorite show Farscape. When the choice was between Pilot and another pup, we thought about calling the other one Mr. Darcy, which I still reserve the right to use on a future dog.
My shih-tzu/yorkie mix is named Bailey. She was a gift from my ex-hubby and he being the lame soul that he is wanted to name her Jasmine. She is definitely not a Jasmine. My boss at the time saw her and thought she looked just like Bailey's Irish cream...she may or may not have been drunk at the time. It doesn't really matter though, it was cute, not lame and so her name was born.

However, in my house she is also referred to as: Snausage, Puffin, Puff-n-Stuff, Muffin, Muffin Top, Minion, Littleface, Gorda, Snuffy, Falcor...I mean really I could go on forever.
when i was 12, my family adopted a rottweiler puppy. i was obsessed with the spice girls, and wanted to name her spice. my dad quickly overruled me, and named her roxie. a few years later, we adopted another dog, who was already named. she was sadie. by then i was an actress, and obsessed with all things musical theatre. i realized that both my dogs had broadway names! (roxie from chicago and sadie from funny girl) roxie sadly passed away 2 years ago, and when my family got a new puppy, they let me name her, since they knew i was very fond of our broadway tradition. she was another beautiful rottweiler, and i named her nickie. after one of the prostitutes in sweet charity.
Both Calvin and Theo's names were picked on the trip to the breeder before we saw them. We had come up with some personality traits we were going in looking for and it was surprisingly easy to find the right pup for each one. Then came the embarrassment of realizing that we were treading dangerously close to ripping off the names of the Chipmunks...
My dog's name is Ele'ele, which means "black" in Hawaiian, though we call her "Ellie" for short. She's a black dog and my mom grew up in Hawaii so we like to give our pets Hawaiian names.
Ha ha my dad is Hawaiian and my sister and I named our orange cat "Kula" when we were kids because it's the Hawaiian word for "Golden". Apparently if you change the spelling it also means "ass" in Spanish. OOPS! Although sometimes it was surprisingly appropriate.
My lemon beagle is named after Brady Quinn - former Notre Dame QB (go Irish) and the other is Maggie - just thought it was a cute girl name :) Wow, my naming strategy is lame compared to everyone else's...hehe.
Coco (as in Chanel) but I often call her Coco Puff.

She also answers to Princess, and Princess Alien Baby (in the morning, when she first wakes up and I turn on the light, her eyes are so dark and she's squinting to adjust to the light and that makes her eyes look like alien eyes! haha)
My Boston Terrier was a rescue & came with the name Buzz. I had to girly it up & altered it immediately to Buzzy Bee.

My American Bulldog is essentially named DOG it's Diogi Doo pronounced how dog is spelled Dee-oh-gee. At the dog park people have asked me if it's an Italian name. I just say yes...yes it is Italian...
