How did your dog get its' name?

Zaphod is named after a character in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. It's one of my all-time favourite books and the personality of the character matches my dogs personality rather well :P

Our dog Emmett, actually got his name from my husband. At the time we were just dating and I was living alone and wanted to get a dog to keep the house from feeling so empty. I went out and found a dog and called up my husband to let him know. He kind of poo pooed about not getting to be there to pick out the dog so I let him pick his name. My husband did some searching and came up with Emmett.

My husband wanted to name our dog Seamus, but I wanted to name him Ahab, so we compromised with Amos!

I have an American Pit Bull Terrier and her name is Cherry. When she joined our family, my brother had a dog named Mango and my husband and I started going through the fruits. We said Cherry and she looked up at us like "That's IT." I also have a Miniature Pincer and his name is Tank. Seriously, he's a Tank. Not in the sense that he's fat or anything but he'll push you over the get what he wants and he's quite the little terror sometimes. We almost named him Polly because he liked to sit on our shoulders, that didn't last long though, he hated that name.
