There are so many. I feel like I'm finding new favorites every day, but here are my picks right now:

1. Bon Chon Chicken: The soy garlic chicken is ridiculous. I have dreams about it...
2. Penelope: Just a really comfortable, laid back place to eat. I go here more for the atmosphere than the food - although the food is good too.
3. Essex: A very fun, high-energy brunch. Packed to the brim with 20-somethings. Get there early or be prepared to wait over an hour.
4. Olea: This is in Brooklyn, but totally worth the hike. The food is phenomenal.
5. Freemans: One of the more unique places I've been to in NYC. The menu is interesting (in the good way) and the bloody mary's are wow. Just wow.
6. Celeste: Best cheese plate in NYC.

Daniel is also amazing if you're into the whole "fine dining" scene.
My favorites are by my job and give me great discount because I send them people and they are both French. Seppi's has the best bread in the world, always hot and fresh from the oven. Their $8 minilunch that includes soup, chicken sandwich and salad or fries is amazing. Everything tastes so fresh. Seppi's 56th St. between 6th & 7th Ave at the Le Parker Meridien. Summer time they got nice terrace for outdoor dining.

Second is BLT Market. Just Wonderful.
1. Josie's- Great New American Organic, vegan and veg friendly. Also good for brunch. Chocolate Chip pancakes! Need I say more?
2. Candle 79- I have proposed marriage more than once to their pastry chef. If you are lucky they will have homemade lavender soy ice cream. It's my favorite thing in the entire world. Their regular food is good too. It's inventive gourmet vegan cuisine.
3. Uncle Marky's Organics- Great midtown lunch hole in the wall. It's best to call ahead and place an order to go.
4. Avra- Amazing traditional Greek food. If you go during lunch you can pick out your fish from the fish display.
5. Pita Grill- Cheap, easy and delicious. Their grilled chicken is amazing. If you like spicy food and you like hummus get the California hummus. I've never had anything quite like it.
1. SushiSamba 7 -- The lunch special is the only time I go. For $20, you get soup, salad, one special roll, and 5ish pieced of nigiri. Plus, you get to sit on 7th Ave. and people watch. I am terrified of eating at a table alone, but at this place, I actually prefer it!

2. Butter. I can only afford it during restaurant week. It has the most memorable service and wine...

3. Osaka. The sushi garden in carroll gardens is too good to be true.

4. John's Pizzeria for a pre-theatre pan pizza. Yummmmm!

5. Blockheads, the Mexican chain that makes guacamole and $3 margaritas a life changing time.

=)
Nobu (if you got deep pockets. go to the one in tribecca for cozy or the one on 57th for celebrity sightings)
Chickalicious (adorable dessert spot in LES)
Max Soha (cheap yummy italian in harlem)

Do you yelp? i do reviews on my blog occasionally. http://blogging-banana.blogspot.com
I absolutely LOVE Max Soha- best gnocchi I've ever had!!
I love this little French place called 26 seats on Ave B and 12th.The vibe is totally East Village, but at the same time the food is authentically country style French. The escargo comes with a bread puff over it that you collapse inside. It comes in the most amazing ,artery clogging cream and mushroom sauce I have ever tasted. Yum.
Just ate at Turkish Kitchen on 3rd last night for my husband's birthday. Truth be told, it was our first time having Turkish food, but we loved it. The staff was friendly, made great suggestions, the wine was good, atmosphere was perfect (not too loud, but the place was full, comfortable), the food was delicious and they let us enjoy our dinner as long as we wanted to stay.
In general, I'm a fan of (this is a wide variety of restaurants) Clinton Street Baking Co, Pump, Wrap-n-Run, Lili and Loo, Tratoria Del Arte, Red Eye Grill and Rosa Mexicana. There are just too many great restaurants in this city.
My favorite restaurant on the UES is Beyoglu on 81st and 3rd ave! It is always crazy busy, but sooo worth it! I love Mediterranean food and this place allows you to mix and match delicious dishes that you would never have otherwise picked! Definitely a must-try :)

1. Kashkaval (this place is a MUST)
2. Lasagna Ristorante
