These are 2 of my VERY FAVORITE authors, and I just wondered if anyone else appreciated their awesomeness :)

They're both British. Sutcliff writes the best historical fiction (mostly about Roman & medieval times) and Goudge writes some of the BEST fiction stories I've ever read, and I've read a few.

Rosemary Sutcliff was my childhood. Her writing is so beautiful...I still read and love her books (and actually planned my honeymoon to Scotland/Britain to see some of the places she'd wrote about). When did you start reading her books?

I've read and enjoyed a few of Elizabeth Goudge's books as well; I think "Linnets and Valerians" was my favorite.

I started reading Sutcliff @ probably age 11 or so. Eagle of the Ninth was my first read, but I think currently Mark of the Horse Lord is my favorite. Or maybe Frontier Wolf. :)

I AM SO JEALOUS that you went to Britain and Scotland!!! I have wanted to do that very thing for yeeeears. Spend like 3 weeks in London and then go out into the wilder parts :) I love Austen and Dickens too.

I love Mark of the Horse Lord...I agree that it's one of her best. Going to Britain was amazing and a childhood dream come true! We wanted to make it down to Hadrian's Wall on one of the last days but didn't get around to it, so I guess we'll just have to go back sometime. ^^
