The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Hey guys!

So I'm just curious as to what books you have read that changed your life or thinking? What books did you find that were inspirational to you? I know for me I go for fast fun reads but when I find a book that really moves me I love it. I loved "Eat Pray Love" and I'm looking for something similar. And thoughts?

Thanks,
Lauren

"Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn and "The Life of Pi" by Yann Martel changed the way I think pretty drastically.
Seconding the motion to the brilliance that is Yann Martel's Life of Pi. I've read it more than a hundred times, and I've experienced the book differently with each read.
I can't remember if I've commented on this thread yet. But here are three books that have maybe not changed my life, but made me definitely think about life a little bit differently: (I linked them to reviews I did on my blog)

The Leisure Seeker- Michael Zadoorian
The Girl From Charnelle- K.L. Cook
Lies My Mother Never Told Me- Kaylie Jones
Three books in particular have help me gain some perspective in life

1) A Separate Peace showed me there was more to the world than high school
2) The Turn of the Screw showed me there was more to thought than reality
3) Cry, the Beloved Country showed me there was more to this world than present-day United States

(Sorry about the lack of current books)
Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom. an absolute tearjerker. Made me appreciate my life more.. :)
Like most people who responded here, I did absolutely love Eat, Pray, Love (although I will probably hate the movie), and I can't wait to read her new book, Committed.

A few weeks ago I finished up a book called Picking Cotton which was written by a rape survivor and the man her testimony put in prison for 11 years for a crime he didn't commit. IT WAS AMAZING. I strongly, strongly recommend it. Essentially, it's a story about human strength and forgiveness, but also looks at psychology and the validity of eye witnesses, especially if they have experienced a traumatic event.

Happy reading!
