The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Inspired by the recent BBC adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes stories (which is brilliant, by the way) I wrote a post on my favourite villains.  They were the Vicomte de Valmont and Marquise de Merteuil from Dangerous Liaisons, Dracula from...erm...Dracula and the White Witch from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Does any one have any recommendations?

What level of response are you looking for?

The English major in me would look to Shakespeare and say the best villains were Iago, Edmund, and Lady Macbeth.
The Movie buff in me would pick Agent Smith from The Matrix, Magneto from XMen, Norman Bates from Psycho, and the bad guy in Serenity (did he have a name?).
The Disney fan in me would pick Jafar and Ursula.
The Book Lover in me would pick Mr. Kurtz from Heart of Darkness, Grendel's Mama from Beowulf, and Lady Catherine de Bourg from Pride and Prejudice.
What a detailed response, I love it - plenty for me to get my teeth into. :) I've not seen Serenity but I agree with the other film baddies. And I hadn't even thought of Disney, Scar in the Lion King was quite the nasty bastard too.
FAVORITE VILLAIN THAT WON'T DIE: Freddy Kreuger (from "Nightmare on Elm Street" series)
SMARTEST VILLAIN: Woo-Jin Lee (from the Korean movie "Old boy") / "John Doe" (from the movie "Se7en")
VILLAIN I ROOTED FOR: Gollum / Smeagol (from "The Lord of the Rings")
Old Boy - I am so watching that later. I can watch it online with the film rental thing I pay for, would you recommend it?

Freddy Kreuger kept me awake for months when I was younger.
I do (recommend it). My roommate told me about it & I was driven mostly by morbid curiosity about the premise of the film (guy gets locked up for 15 years & then is suddenly released)

It's part of a "Revenge Trilogy" - "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" comes first & "Lady Vengeance" is the last one, but none of the three films intersect. (some use the same actors, though)

Enjoy!
Count Fosco from Wilkie Collins' The Woman in White, mad, bad and dangerous to know. :-) But if you really want an insight into the horrors read La Bas (The Damned) by Jorsi Karl Huysmans. It's a novel, though one that will introduce you to Gillies de Rais, all the more horrific in that he really lived. He could not be on anybody's list of favourites, any normal person, that is.
tyler durden vs sephiroth!

OR OR!

Damon Salvatore vs Lucifer from Supernatural
