The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Ladies (& Gentlemen)  - please help!

So I started this Men's book club & I've been trying to suggest a variety of of genres / authors of different ages so that we could get a real range of what's out there in the literary world.  And one of the things we haven't really touched on yet is books written by female authors.

So I was hoping you could suggest some books written by women that us male readers might enjoy.

So, ladies - any books you think us guys might enjoy?  (i.e. something that's NOT "chick lit"?)

Guys, likewise - read any books written by women that you'd reccommend?

Classically speaking - try Frankenstein, Anthem, Silas Marner, or To Kill a Mockingbird (if you English teachers didn't already make you read them)

Mystery - Strong Poison, And Then There Were None, and well, anything by Sayers or Christie

More Recent - Gilead, Interview with the Vampire, Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant (haven't read the last one, but it was recommended by a guy) Hmmm . . . I need to work on the contemporary titles, maybe I'll get back to you

Or you could just read Harry Potter and call it good :)
Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm gonna save the Mystery author suggestions for later and disregard the Harry Potter series / Classics as most of us have already read those in the past (I know I have).

"Gilead" and "Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant" sound like a good place to start, though. :-D
The Poisonwood Bible, by Barbara Kingsolver is a great book.
