The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Anyone else out there still stuck at your parents' place? I graduated last June and moved back home full time in September, and since then most of my spare time has been spent dreaming about moving out. I mean, I love my parents, but if I have to watch one more true crime TV show I might have to be committed to an institution.

I am!  I graduated in December and will be moving back full time in August once my lease runs out.  The perks? Saving a lot of money not paying rent or bills.  The downside?  Having to convince my dad that as a 22 year old, I shouldn't have a curfew and that going to the bars does not make me an alcoholic...
yep, the $$$ thing is a pretty big incentive
It is really nice to not have to pay for rent or food, but I have to commute an hour to work every day, so what I'm spending on gas and toll for the Golden Gate Bridge is killing me. I'd move out, but rent in the Bay Area isn't exactly entry-level wage friendly. And although my parents don't try to set a curfew, I do get a lot of irritating "where are you going?" type questions. Dear Mom, you didn't know where I was going for four years, why does it matter now?
o hay i'm in the bay too. did you get a fastpass? can't you take bart?
I do have a fastpass. Unfortunately, I commute from the north bay to the penninsula and there's no convenient public transportation (the north bay refuses to adopt the bart system), so I'm just kind of screwed for right now in that regard. But even with car expenses, I'm still saving a lot by being at home.
Oh my goodness... I know exactly how you feel! It sucks that you've lived away from home for 4 years and now that I want to go out and fun or go to bar, I feel like I HAVE to ask my mom. And she really does think I'm an alcoholic!
haha weird..my parents love true crime shows too. but yeah, i live at home too, but i'm ok with it 90% of the time.
Ahhh I lived at home for 3 months after I graduated college, and it was HELL. I didn't have a car, so if I asked to borrow one, I'd get grilled about where I needed to go, even if it was just Walmart! I feel for ya girl. It's fun to get out on your own, even if you have to be poor for a while! I work 2 jobs, but to me, my independence is worth it.

I lived at home at 22, worked full time, school full time and paid rent. I'm amazed how many of you don't pay rent, even if they don't ask of it. Do you think they enjoy having you there all the time, they thought you were out of the nest. And I'm sure they aren't happy with the extra expense either.

I get it sucks, I've been there. It was a grueling 9 months. But I busted my ass off to get out of there. And because of that I didn't have to explain where I was going, why I didn't come home or where my money was going. I was treated as an adult, as a roommate.

Roommates are great and often WAY better then parents. There are plenty of options to get out of your parents.

Yeah I'm still at home too and my parents watch endless NCIS reruns! lol  I'm just ready to have my own place and have my own routine of work and cooking dinner and doing things around the house.  Call me crazy but I look forward to getting to decorate and "keep house" and have things MY way.  I've been in such an inbetwen stage for a long time with Peace Corps waiting to see if I'll be leaving or not, but if it doesn't work out this time I am definitely moving out!
I definitely feel you on those NCIS reruns! And I can't wait to be able to decorate my future place the way I want, hopefully some day soon. Good luck with the Peace Corps; when do you hear?

If I never have to hear Mark Harmon called "boss" ever again…it will STILL be too soon.

I moved back home to go to law school (which turned out to be a terrible life plan!), but aside from my parents' terrible taste in television. And I totally understand the whole "in-between" thing. I feel like I've been in that stage FOREVER.
