The Old Double Standard -- Are women allowed to have sex with more than 5 people yet?

I just read a post from great(ish) expectations blog and it asked the question about whether women should lie and say their "number" is 5 or less or whether we should be honest about it.

This conjures up thoughts about the old double standard which encourages men to "spread their seed" and faults women for doing the same. I believe that women, as long as they are safe, sober, and smart should explore themselves sexually with others so they know what they like and don't like in the bedroom. This is just as important as dating in order to learn what you do and don't like in a relationship. And, before anyone calls me a hoochie, my number is 10 and I am proud of that. Do I wish I could knock 2 off the list, sure, but it's not because I am ashamed of that number, it's simply because they were bad in bed. What do you think?

I hate the double standard, and I really think that if someone asked me my number I would probably tell  them it's none of their business. My sexual history is mine, and mine only. I do agree with you that people need to explore the sexuality and see what they do or don't like in sex.
