The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Can you be considered a hard work and still check out Facebook throughout the day?

I think I am a hard worker, but I can't deny that I log in to Facebook throughout the day as I work.  Does this mean I'm really a slacker or a multi-tasker? Do you blog, tweet or check out Facebook while at work?

Thankfully, tweeting and FB are actually part of my job (ahh, social media).

Blogging...well, I try to keep it on the downlow. Google reader helps. I try not to blog at work though...sometimes I'll start writing posts and email them to myself. It's a pain commenting on blogs from work computers, though.
I would say multi-tasker - just so long as it doesn't take precedence over work it should be ok. Use it with discretion.
Maybe you need to find a job where you FB for work... it will cure you of the problem (or enable you). ;)
Yes I believe you can. I do it all the time :)
this has become an issue in the office. if you use the company's resources for things that aren't related to your work, then it is not really productive.
If my IT department blocked Twitter and Facebook from my computer I'm pretty sure there would be a lawsuit because instead of tweeting about my hatred for idiots, I'd say it to there face. And probably follow up with a knuckle sandwich.

It helps that my boss sits far enough away that she can't see my screen, so catching up on my blog obsessions is quite easy. I also seem to get paid to blog...not that they know that!

Hmmm so I sound like a bigger slacker than Stifler. I'm not--if there is work to be done, it gets done first and foremost. But so much of my day is sitting and staring into space, so I might as well fill that time with something productive...
Of course it's hard work. you are there. it's not like you can be where you really wanna be or do what you really want to do. that IS hard work :)
I think so. Every so often you need a five or ten minute break to recharge and refocus. If I don't take little Facebook or Twitter breaks I start to space out. I think checking those sites actually makes me more productive since afterwards I'm ready to work hard again.
HAHAHA. That sounds exactly like me! I keep Facebook on almost all day in the background in my office. Granted, my job is all about connecting with teenagers so Facebook CAN be relevant. Too bad they are all at school while I'm at work . . . but I would say it's multi-tasking. As long as you are getting work done, then it's fine. I'm usually chatting with people as I'm doing work and I get everything I need to done. Just make sure it doesn't get in the way of what you are doing and the people around you are OK with it.
Girl, I keep my tweetdeck open all day long which updates me on twitter and facebook.  That way, I get notifications (and can comment on them as I please) without the screen showing those incriminating and obviously FB & twitter related colors!
Well, hell yeah since it's apart of my work lol but quite difficult to do while at work bc of the constant back and forth.

I totally think it means you are a multi-tasker... I check my facebook all the time at work, but I still get everything done!

They have jobs now for people to be "social media checkers" where it is their job to go to social websites and look at peoples profiles that work for hte company, for new hires and to make sure people aren't taking smack about their company! I feel like I would be REALLY good at that job! Anyone else?

Heck... I blog at work sometimes :)
