What do you do with your things?

I post some of my stuff on deviant art. I would like to sell some things, but I haven't been to successful as of now. I gave a bunch of my paintings to my aunt to hang up in her new house.

i agree with tina,

i work as a freelance artist, creating caricatures, logos, posters, yada yada, and i can say with every item i've created there are some personal memories attached....the creative process behind each one, the different aesthetic problems and their resolutions..

i believe this world to be very subjective, and i believe art to be the sum of existentialism...each and every piece of art invokes some kinda feeling from a person..whether they like it or not, there will be always some kinda reaction, even if they don't see it right out..

i think creativity is a blessing and we should all share our creativeness with each other, regardless if we think its the best thing we've made since sliced bread or if its something that should be burned in all its unholiness ;)

I have posted some of my paintings and prints online to sell, but since I just started I haven't sold any. Before I put them online, I would give them to some of my closest friends and family.

I think that would be cool to mail your art to strangers. Have you ever heard of ATC (artist trading cards) its where you create art on a 2.5x3.5 cardboard (or whatever material) and mail it to other people. Its a great way to share your art and to gain exposure to other people and their forms of art.
Been reading up on it for a couple of weeks.
I know I can be shy about what I create digitally. I am always nervous about others opinions.

Well, I pretty much only make are to give away- or sell. That is usually what I have in mind when I make something.
There are also these bead exchanges that go on at Lampwork Etc. that are fun to participate in because you're giving and receiving.

I will explore other mediums to make art for my home- but mostly because for now I am too poor to fill it with other's art.

For me, art is about what I'm feeling. I really can't paint anything real. it looks like a child did it. It's more... Colors. I'll mix them and layer them and jsut do whatever I feel like doing. Sometimes, since it doesn't look Finished i'll paint a quote onto it or something. I used to paint my furniture, then wash it off and paint it again. Paper, i'd paint and either put on my walls or trash, depending on whether it told me what i wanted it to. it was about me while i painted it, rather than showing or giving to anyone. i knew that others didn't see what i felt, and perhaps i just know people who don't get it, but it just... depreciated it somehow to have them look at it and go ok... it's nice... and move on w/o it meaning anything. so unless i painted it specifically For them, I put it away for me for me if it really means something to me, or if i really like it but feel it's unfinished. otherwise, i would just put it in a stack to get rid of at a later time, since i can't paint it and immediately give it away. i'm thinking about starting another blog for my painting. even though it's doubtful anyone would see it since i'm unlikely to promote it. but it would be Out there for people to stumble across, as opposed to now when no one can.

I get really attached to some of the things I make! It's not so much that I don't want to give it away because I'm afraid of criticism, but rather that I've gone all sentimental and developed a bit of an attachment and am basically just a greedy child.

Basically.

I should probably try to let go of that feeling, but sometimes I just can't.
