The Bloggers With The Most To Say

Hey everyone, so since I'm about to be a 1L.. I have a couple questions. Pretty simple, but I have no idea what the answers are.

1. What should you wear to class? Suit? or is that way overboard.. I am going to Villanova, if that helps at all.

2. Where should I buy books? I have heard horror stories about how most people tear pages out of books to get ahead. Can I still buy them used on amazon?

3. How do you get a hold of old tests? (which I have heard are good to study from for the final)

4. What fraternity is better? or is it even worth it to join?

Thanks so much for all of the experience and advice!! I was so worried about the books, and I figured a suit was overboard.. but I just wanted to make sure. Good idea to ask professors about their tests, I probably wouldn't have had you not recommended it. You are wonderful! Thank you!
1. business casual should be enough. no dressing up, unless you have a presentation or an interview on campus... or perhaps for exams. that worked for me.

2. i bought books from older students and half.com

3. the professor may have them listed on a website where you can download them; otherwise, look for exams from other law schools, especially if you know the format of your exam and you can find others like it somewhere else.

4. law review, moot court, and student orgs are best. when you're looking for internships, read the bios of the lawyers who work where you might be working, and see what extra-curriculars they did.
I wore pajamas a lot to law school and sat in the back row. Maybe that's why I'm now a public defender--we're kind of the pajama-wearing renegades lurking in the back. :)
