A great city to explore (that is totally random) is Spokane, WA (and its pretty neighbor, Couer d'Alene, Idaho). It's full of beautiful parks (the most famous being Riverfront, Riverside, and Manito--all very different and worth seeing), great restaurants, and lots of fun bars. It's a big basketball city, so if you're there during the season it's fun to see a college game (Eastern Washington University is nearby, and Gonzaga University is right in town); in the Summer they have a huge outdoor street basketball tournament that's a lot of fun. The weather in Summer is just gorgeous, and there are lakes all around for sunning, swimming, and picnics (like Lake Couer d'Alene, for starters). It's worth a visit, if you're ever up that way.
I also like Missoula, MT, though I can't give as many details on it since I've spent much less time there.
And, like I already said in a response earlier in this thread, I can't recommend Memphis highly enough. I just love it. -

I did a road trip that began in Pocatello, Idaho and hit San Francisco, Monterey, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, Pasadena and then went back up through Utah and ended in Salt Lake City. The drive was beautiful and there are so many random things to stop at along the way. The parks in Utah are beautiful too, I'd recommend seeing them if you're going to be out west.

If you're going to be in Colorado, I definitely recommend Crested Butte and Telluride. Both are sort of isolated. Telluride is this cool little town in an ancient glacial valley. The mountains are amazing, the town is so much fun. You can do anything there and there's an awesome bluegrass festival in September. Crested Butte though is one of my favorite places on earth. You can stay in town where there are so many original restaurants, bars, pizza places, etc. There is pretty much any type of food you could want, sushi, thai, Caribbean, mexican, etc. And the town loves to party. All of this is set against the most magnificent scenery and it is a mountain biking capital. There is also rock climbing, camping, and if you wanted to backpack you can hike from Crested Butte to Aspen. I cannot describe how breath taking this place is. You have to go there and see for yourself.

Yeah we call it the Crusted Butt sometimes, the irony being how beautiful it is. I aspire to live there one day, when I make more money than I do now.

Is it terribly sad that how I know of Crested Butt(e) is solely from its appearances on The Hills? Though it looked absolutely gorgeous! And Telluride is an amazing town. I'm jealous that you live in Colorado; it is by far my favorite state.

I am actually a transplant from the Southeast. (North Carolina to be exact). Came to Colorado and did a road trip my sophomore year of college, knew I was coming back after that. :)

Awww, that's fun! I'm from Tennessee actually. And I made my first visit to Colorado when I was 12, vowed I would move there one day. I made it to San Francisco but never CO. Thanks for reminding me I need to get back and visit there soon!

In the US if you are in Los Angeles try two things:
1. The Getty - an art museum that is known for its collection of paintings, antiques, photographs, landscaping, arcitecture and view of the city. It is located on a mountain so you can see from the mountains over downtown, all the way to the water.
2. Fresh Corn Grill - the chef works for a 5 star restaurant in the evenings but cooks here during lunch for half the price! Delish! -

It would be fun to tour around the US and go to places with wineries!! Like NY, VA, CA, NC, NH, KY, GA.. and you could do the same with local microbreweries. Just a thought!

I've been to and visited 47 states. Missing Hawaii, Alaska and I've driven through Montana but have never actually visited and my favorite secret find is Asheville, NC. It meets my inner hippy needs haha. Also, I'm a fan of Austin..where I live haha. And I went to school near Cambridge, MA and I love that as well. All these places are really eco/envrionmentally concious and good for the creative class, are out doorsy and hippies at heart ha.
