Would you rather...live in your homestate for the rest of your life and never leave? or...Leave your home country and never return?

I'm back in the States now after three years of living abroad and I was playing that lame "Would you Rather?" boardgame the other night when I pulled the question:

Would you rather live in your homestate (or province) for the rest of your life and never be allowed to leave? Or would you rather leave your home country and never, ever be allowed to return?

To the me that answer was a no brainer...(leave my home country. I mean DUH). But surprisingly, half the people in the group I was playing with chose the first option. They'd rather stay (in our case, California), for the rest of their lives than leave the US and never return.

Which would you chose?

Well I'm so passionate about travelling that I would probably chose the second option. I'm living in France and it's a great place but I want to go abroad since I'm 12 ! Furthermore, I'm not really a family type of girl so it would be okay for me to leave and never come back. Of course, I'll probably miss a little the country and especially the food (i'm sorry but french is food is the best haha) but yeah o chose the second option ! Gosh it's crazy how this little game of "would you rather" can make you think deep !

gosh. NEVER returning to California?

The one thing I love more than travel and new experiences is people.
So if most of the people I love and the community I belong to was in California, it would be hard to tear me away.

Nonetheless, even in a vast/diverse state like California, I would feel a bit... claustrophobic, if I knew I could neverever leave.

Theres too much out there to stay in one place for your entire life.

Without a doubt, I would choose the second option. I don't hate the United States, but I can't imagine never being allowed to leave the country again, let alone my state of Tennessee. I sent last semester studying abroad, and it simply opened my eyes up to how much there is out there. I have way too many places to see to be content staying here!

leave and never return. no question. I agree with Dan, there's too much out there to stay in one place for the rest of your life.

I've been doing this my whole life. I have left my "home" and never returned several times. That's because for about 15 years of my life I lived in several different countries. Each move is really tough, and after moving from a certain country, I've never been back to visit (not because I'm not allowed but mostly for monetary reasons) and it's tough. Knowing there are friends out there that I will probably never see again for the rest of my life sucks big time.

So personally I'd be much happier knowing that I'll be staying in one place, rather than knowing I could never return.

i've been abroad (in the UK) for 18months now... I'm mad excited about going home (add a whole bag of mixed emotions, but hey)...but to stay in one place and never leave...never gonna happen!

It will have to be option 2, even though I do love my country (South Africa) in spite of all it's problems.

Everyone here is choosing number 2...and I'm no different! Maybe I'm taking this great country for granted, but everywhere else seems to offer more than what I'm used to. I spent 6 wonderful weeks in college studying in Florence. Ever since then I've been itching to get back. Not just to Italy, but to see what else is out there.

But on the other hand, I would miss the convenience of my own culture. Buying a hair dryer was a lot harder when there wasn't a Walmart within 100 miles! And my family...they would have to come with me!

I would so chose to leave my home country and never, ever be allowed to return. My parents think I'll learn my lesson when I leave for a good while, I've been out of the country quite a few times and enjoy it very much. We shall see.

I'd definitely leave the U.S. Granted, I do live in North Dakota so options here are definitely limited. It'd be hard to leave my friends, but hey, they could always come visit.

I spent a semester in Australia and ever since then, I've been dying to get out and see everything I possibly could. I wish I could find a job where all I had to do was travel the world.

leave country and never return hands down. I truly love where I live and all my family and friends are here but the thought of being stuck here forever sounds awful. The world's too big and I've had my share of Southern California. I'm going to be living in Bulgaria for the next 2 years so there's a start.

Leave and never return. Definitely. I'd get a serious case of claustrophobia if I had to stay in this tiny corner (Leinster) of this tiny country (Ireland) for the rest of my days!
