About Me:
I come from a super wonderful and creative family, and was lucky enough to grow up in the Midwest. My dad is a self employed craftsman, which meant that he was home a lot, and also traveled a lot. Going to craft shows all across the midwest I was immersed in a creative and alternate lifestyle which sticks with me today, and something that one day I would like to be a part of - in my own way.

I did terribly in public schools, I failed at least one class a semester until my senior year. I was dating a guy who was so passionate about his religion, and after my grandmother (who I adored) passed away I dropped out of school and decided to get married. I was nineteen.

After the divorce (which is a story for another day) I moved out and went back to school, a little behind, but very motivated. I graduated in five years with two degrees - one in Religion and Philosophy, and the other in English - Creative Writing. I also moved from my hometown to Seattle to move in with my girlfriend, and to strike out on my own.

While I was in school, I had this clear plan of what I was going to do. I was going to graduate, get into the Masters program of my choosing, go on and get a PhD and then teach. Once I graduated, though, everything got a little more complicated and I began questioning whether teaching was really what I wanted to focus my life on.

I'm still figuring things out, but that is about where it stands right now. So, there's a little about me..

Hello! On my blog you asked about my experience with UW.

It was good. It probably would've been better if I had been more excited about being in school. There were a lot of resources available to me that I didn't really take advantage of. However, I was surprised at how seldom I saw some of the faculty in my program outside of classes and scheduled meetings. I thought they'd be more involved and outgoing in student-related things. I was also a bit of a recluse because I was also teaching and felt buried in work. Anyway, that was my overall experience; I'd be happy to elaborate.
