I'm a San Francisco transplant by way of New York City, Arizona, Scotland, Holland, Denmark and, most importantly, Tennessee. As a travel writer by profession, I spend more time in the clouds than on the ground (both literally and metaphorically). I also dabble in other forms of writing -- like entertainment and women's mags -- more to keep myself sane than anything else. Among other publications, I have worked for Newsweek, PEOPLE, Entertainment Weekly, Frommer's, MTV, Lucky, Glamour, InStyle, In Touch, Forbes Traveler, Us Weekly and Travel Channel.
I like to run marathons. Some call me crazy.
I had a secret desire to become a talking head, and then it came true (ask and ye shall receive!), which has only fueled the fire.
My feet look really big in this picture, but they're only a size 8. OK, 8.5.
I live with my FIANCEE, a cracka who loves monkeys and surfing (perhaps that should be his blog title).
I started Camels & Chocolate when I was bored at work one day in August 2007, but I had a previous blog (a Xanga, oh the embarrassment!) that has since been retired.
Fill in the blank: "People who like _________ will love my blog!"
travel, new york city, san francisco, dating, other cultures, other countries, celebrities, pop culture
What makes you different from other bloggers?
I'm on a different continent every week it sometimes seems. How many bloggers can say that?

Wow..I love your blog! I'm so jealous...I'm an aspiring journalist and desperately wanting to get into the magazine industry. On top of that, I LOVE to travel and want to see as much of the world as I can. How did you get involved with these magazines???

Love your blog, and so jealous! How did you get into journalism the way you do? I have about 1,000 other questions as a 23-year-old journalist who will be lucky to have as much as experience as you do by the time she's 40... =(
Hello, you! Back to making me feel good about myself, I see. Well thank ya - I love ya for it!
I am back public again, just b/c a few people were longing to see my old posts - or so I'd like to think. I actually have a new blog - splendidreally.tumblr.com, that I post to far more often. Please come visit me over there :)
:) Hello, my San Francisco blogging buddy! I'm terribly sorry I locked you out without notice. You may, of course, have access, but here's the thing: the only reason it is currently locked is because my boss' sister-in-law found it and I had to make it private quickly before any blog posts that shed my workplace in a not so favorable light were seen by my boss. It will be made public again soon, just as soon as I have cleaned out all references to work :)
