My name is Cassie Paton, and I’m a 20-something writer who recently moved to Los Angeles because, you know, dreams.
Here’s the story: I had a nice, safe life in the Maryland suburbs with free rent, good food, a safe job and, oh, just all of my friends and family nearby. But I gave it all up to move cross-country with my musician boyfriend John and go to grad school at the University of Southern California. These days, I can be found scouring Craigslist for work, watching entirely too much Netflix, and marveling at the cheap wine selection at Trader Joe’s. Not to mention working on my blossoming journalism career. That’s why I’m here, after all.
The road trip here was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life, and coming to L.A.? The boldest move I’ve ever made. It’s been a challenge adjusting to the unfamiliar territory, but it’s totally worth it to see my California dream become a reality.
