About Me:
I know a lot of people say it, but I can't resist - I'm a girl who likes to read. I've liked to read since I was old enough to be able to decide on my own what I wanted the characters to look and sound like. I read mostly romance, urban fantasy, and young adult, but I've never considered myself a person who would turn down the opportunity to read a great book, no matter the technicality of its genre.

My other love is makeup and I'm having tons of fun learning, exploring, and practicing (on myself and others). Fingers crossed that in a few years I'll be doing it semi-professionally!

Fill in the blank: "People who like _________ will love my blog!"
to read, to go the library, to watch movies, to recommend books, to go to the beach, to go out, to stay in, to learn, to teach, to talk, to listen
What makes you different from other bloggers?
What makes my blog different is that books are a medium that transcend a lot of boundaries. Generation, sex, etc. - everyone can benefit from a good book to read, one that can just make you happy for having been exposed to it. I love that connection with other people and because that love comes out in my blog I feel it's different from many of the other options available.

Books to Read After Mockingjay

Posted on September 22, 2010 at 11:51am 0 Comments

A couple weeks ago I read an article written by Peter Steinberg called "6 'Flashlight Worthy' Children's Books to Read After You Finish Mockingjay". I love articles like these because I feel that children and young adult books don't get highlighted enough to the public. I can't say that I would have… Continue

Hey Guys,

Dating: Beyond the Kitchen and Race

Posted on September 20, 2010 at 4:14pm 0 Comments

I just don't understand. I don't understand why I personally should be offended that 'Black men' (which is so freaking generic it kills me) are dating outside their race.

Over and over, whenever I happen to stumble upon a site or a blog targeting Black people, it seems to be a subject brought up for debate. 'Black women' are offended that 'Black men' are not dating…

Hi Dana,

I am new around here and I am trying to make new friends (especially those from the DMV!) I thought stop by your page and suggest a book to you. Have you ever read Snowflower and the Secret Fan? Great book! I am reading it now...I think it would make a great addition to your blog.
