Hi. I’m Felicia (aka “Felish”). I’m 27 (yikes!) years old.
I live in Boston, although I’m a native of Philadelphia. That means I pronounce ‘water’ as ‘wudder’, and although I’ve been valiantly resisting it, ‘wicked’ has started to creep into my vocabulary (ugh… still sounds so weird to me, haha). That also means that I am a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies. Let me repeat that– I AM NOT a Sox/Patriots supporter! It’s been hard living up here in the forsaken land, but I muddle through.
I’m a short, slightly round person with curly black hair, a permanent tan, and freakishly small hands. I’m half Indian and half Polish American which makes for an interesting combination since I have a VERY Polish name, but I apparently look very Hispanic. No hablo Espanol.
I’m a liberal, non-practicing Catholic. Oldest child. Slightly OCD (especially when it comes to list-making, looooove them!) Major loves in my life are wine, lip gloss, Netflix, violin, lazy Sundays in bed, reading anything I can get my hands on, the television show of the moment (Lost), pretending to cook, my ever growing collection of high heeled shoes, watching/reading scary real-life crime shows/documentaries/news articles, procrastinating, Top Chef, dancing badly, and being outstanding in any way possible.
I work in a career that I love at times, and that I hate at times. I guess this is pretty typical and I’m lucky in the sense that every day brings a new challenge. I also work with a great group of people, which is something that not everyone can say. I can honestly say that I never expected to end up where I am today, but I’m probably a better person for all the weird, wacky, and random experiences that I’ve had. I am leaving this all behind this fall to go to business school, and I CAN’T BE MORE EXCITED ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!! I’ll be attending Boston University’s School of Management and will receive an MS-MBA in Information Systems/Public and Nonprofit Management. Quite frankly, I can’t wait.
Besides counting down the days until I leave my job, I keep my days filled with practicing the violin, reading multiple news sites online, faking my way through cooking, watching reality tv, and talking with friends and family.
P.S. the name of the blog is derived from one of my more prevalent nicknames. Let’s just say that when my parents named me, they thought they’d hit on a combination that wouldn’t invite nicknames. Little did they realize that, 27 years later, I’d have a list that is literally pages long, filled with nickname after name. Lovely.
I saved my little brother from drowning when we were four and five, respectively.
We’d gone rock-jumping at a gorge in Ithaca, NY, and he fell into a deep pool between two rocks. I hung on to his arms to keep him above water and yelled for my mom. It seemed like forever, but it was probably only five or six minutes before she actually arrived to help lift him out.
I was looking through some old journals of mine earlier tonight, and came across some real hilariously bad poems I’d apparently written. I had completely forgotten that I’d ever written poems of any sort, but looking at my pathetic efforts made me smile. So I figured I’d try to start writing poetry on a more regular basis, and see what emerges from my feeble attempts. Wednesday is Hump Day, and what better way to celebrate than with a piece of bad poetry? Without further ado, BAD POETRY… Continue
