Socrates was a good man. He would ask questions and then he would lead you to the answers. This sometimes enlightening, often times annoying practice gained him wide spread fame in his day. However, it is debatable whether Socrates would still be talked about today had it not been for his student Plato. Socrates did not write his philosophical musings. Our knowledge of the man, his life, and his philosophy is based on writings by his students and contemporaries; foremost among them was Plato.
Like my blog’s namesake, I aim to create a written record of important questions. Playtonic Dialogues (shameless pun intended) is a meeting ground for ideas in music, philosophy, and the cross-section between the two. Why is this? Well, I majored in philosophy (specifically ethics), I am an avid music fan (sometimes a musician), and I am interested in how these two disciplines influence each other. That is, what can be learned from taking a philosophical approach to music and vice versa (whatever the latter might mean).
